He said the same thing about Charlie High.

Did I have an issue pulling for a kid who was a life long Vol? Of course not. The kid was willing to give it a go as a walk-on and got to be an actual Vol if only for a little while. I still think had High stuck around last year he very well could have seen some game action. Swafford, Gilliam and others can confirm that if you come in and work hard, even as a walk-on living the dream is possible.

Here is a little "walk-on" related info that could cause some curious minds to start processing. Ryan Kendall, brother of 2016 QB commit Austin Kendall walked on last year at kentucky. Strategic move by the uk staff?

What in the world happened in this thread?! LV, have you been up all night arguing about whether or not to take a 2nd QB? Lol! Everyone knows...you want to take Matt Williams as a PWO. Are you related to him or something?

All night? Nope. I had a solid 6 hrs of sleep or so. Sometimes I get the urge to toss a little gas on the fire and see if I can heat things up a bit. Keeps things talkative around here. :birgits_giggle:

I am in no way related to Matt. Just a fan of his love for our Vols. The fact the kid has talent on the football field and is a TN kid just makes it easier.

On a side note, I was considering going over to the DJ Jones and Tim Settle threads and posing the ? which one would be the better slow play option if McKenzie is indeed onboard? Might be a bit early for that though. :)

Please don't!!! It is very simple with that situation whether you want to believe it or not with your numbers crunch. We take all 3, if they want to be Vols. Deep down, you know that is true as well.

Deep down? Yeah, I could see the staff taking all 3 IF it came down to it(I don't think it will). I could see all 3 of those guys seeing a lot of reps in college no matter where they decide to play. Very likely on Sundays as well at some point.

Based on what evidence? High is a great kid, but he's not an SEC level QB. If he had been "all that" he wouldn't have redshirted at Tennessee Tech, for goodness sakes.

High excelled in a system at the 3A level of Tennessee high school football that fit him well. College football is a totally different situation, and especially at the high D1-A level. Quinn Epperly (All Ivy League at Princeton) put up incredible numbers at CAK before High, and the kid there now - a freshman who started the second half of this past season whose name escapes me at the moment - will put up similar numbers. Rusty Bradley's offensive system is going to result in big QB numbers.

As I said, High is a great kid, but he is a backup at Tennessee Tech right now. There is nothing more than lip service to back the claims by some that he ever would have been more than a 30 up or 30 down walkon QB at UT.

Bird(s) in the hand

Are worth 2 in the 2016 recruiting class bush.

Take TG now, he is obviously a heck of a ath and if he does not pan out at QB there will be spot on the team he can help us at if we do get the second coming of Peyton in 2016.

Just as a reminder for some of the younger people on here, when Peyton committed to UT he was one of 2 highly recruited QB's and it was a big question back then, (IF THE INTERNET AND VN HAD EXISTED THEN CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MUCH DEBATE THAT WOULD HAVE LED TO FOR US OLD TIMERS ABOUT WHICH ONE TO START AFTER WE LOST OUR STARTING QB TO INJURY THAT YEAR),
which one would be the better QB. Get TG on campus and see if he grows into a SEC caliber QB, same for the kid out of the mid-state here. When Peyton came in he was not a sure fire lock to even win the starting job at UT over the other QB in the class. I think we all know how that panned out in the long run.

A lot of it is on the kid when he gets to campus anyway. Peyton excelled because he dedicated himself to being the best at his position. He put in the study and work to achieve that. If a kid comes in and does that he will get better, if he decides to waste the opportunity by messing up his grades, stealing laptops, robbing convenience marts or some other stupid nonsense then I do not care how many stars he has, he will never reach his potential and it is his fault.

Take TG now, if that great PM the 2nd does commit in next years class then let the competition begin. EITHER WAY WHICH EVER QB WINS, UT WINS!!!!!

This thread has shifted from "he's a great athlete who needs some polish at QB" to now he apparently doesn't know how to even throw a football...

Yeah I just came here to say this. And I love the state of Tennessee but its laughable to even compare a guy who threw for a whole bunch of yards against terrible competition to someone who won a high school state championship against the best competition in the country. It's like comparing FCS to power conference football. Just not even in the same ballpark.

Lbv you need to stay out the TG thread. You don't think he is any good and don't want him. Why do you have the most posts in his thread? Go talk about players you like. Half of you vn posts are bashing TG.

He has the right to an opinion, whether it pleases you or not. He also has the right to state it as much as he likes. If you're not a fan, ignore button helps

If the staff takes all 3, plus 3 defensive ends, plus four Olinemen, where do we chop it off at other positions?

He does and has stated over and over. Why come and keep saying the same things? If I don't like a prospect or don't think he fits I !wouldn't stay in his thread more than those who do. Why keep repeating the same things. We know parents and recruits read these. If you think he is not good state it and move on. No need to stay in his thread every day.

Parents and recruits need thicker skins then. There will always be skeptics.

The phrase "we'll take em all" seems to come up a lot. Granted never with much to support the idea. My prediction(20) and position breakdown has stayed about the same. We have not had the mass exodus many are hoping for yet with current Vol players fighting each other to be one of the 1st off the boat.

QB-1, RB-1, WR-2, TE-1(IF it's Lewis), OL-3, DT-2, DE-3, LB-3, CB-2, S-1, LS-1.

If you get McKenzie and Settle, what do you do if Jones wants in? If you take Cherry, Dews, and Sapp, what if DeBerry wants in? What if Martin and Brazil out of Juco both try to commit? Do you tell McCleskey no if he wants Woods spot? What if Love tried to commit at RB? Some feel Austin Clark is still a sure take along with Richmond. What if Van Jefferson tries to be a Vol?

"Just take them all". It's kind of funny really.

Kamara, Chris Clark, Roseboro, Alabi, Weber, Baker, McGraw, Hines, Cain, Who do you tell no to if they want in so you can take multiple project QBs in 1 class?

This comes down to whether someone wants to voice their critical analysis or support of someone or something or whether they feel the need to go on a campaign to convert as many to their viewpoint as possible. There is no other explanation for repetitive criticisms or sales jobs other than being in campaign mode unless you're really old and forgetful; then it's understandable if you're telling the same stories over and over. (In the latter case, it's generally considered polite if you at least pretend to listen.) :hi:
