The pro style guys hand off because they have to.. If the DT guy isn't having luck running, he can hand it off to the same RBs that the pro style guys would. It's about having options.. Like how everyone was going nuts when worley wouldn't keep any of those reads because his side of the field was wide open.. Options.

Incomplete passes are negative plays and you get a higher percentage with an athlete at QB. I would love to be a defensive coordinator with a DT QB on 3rd and 10. I know what he is going to do. It is just a matter of time.

Condrege Holloway was one of the greatest DT QB's I ever watch play the game. He had an All-American receiver in Larry Seivers and an All-Pro receiver in Stanley Morgan and never won an SEC tittle.

Why is it when someone makes an astute observation they are labeled a hater? Just because I do not agree with your opinion?

If we had an accurate passer this last year we probably would have gone to a bowl game. They did not trust Dobbs to throw the long ball down field and for good reason.

We will have an even better receiving corp the next couple of years and we need someone who can make the best of it, not just another athlete. Gibson's value as a passer is now being questioned and his value as an athlete is on the rise. We have plenty of athletes in both of Butch's classes. We need a QB. All I am saying is if you are going to bring in talent like Wolf, North, Malone, and Pearson put a smart QB on the field with a rocket arm to take advantage of your weapons.

And my next question is how many times did our QB's run last year in Butch's offense? Very few attempts is the answer.

Accuracy can be improved upon. So who's to say what TG is going to be like after this season? What if, and this does happen, he works on his weaknesses and becomes even better than he is now?

If you have watched his highlights, you would know that he throws the deep ball very well. By your own admission, there are plenty of good athletes on our team right now. So why is CBJ recruiting Gibson so hard?

I realize this is tongue in cheek but... Did those guys have success throwing the rock as high school QBs?

I'd imagine at least some of them played some QB in HS at some point. I know one of the Berry twins played some QB(not sure if he ever threw it much). I think Moseley played some QB. Of course they were more of an "athlete" than a true QB. Oh wait.....

Fair chance that Gibson is a rare athlete, and is a take from that standpoint regardless if position. Butch has brought in athletes. Doesn't mean they are this type of athlete.

I totally agree on taking him as an athlete. As I said earlier it looks like his stock is on the rise. Just not sure he would be our best hope at QB with the weapons we have coming in.

Stick with these comparisons as an argument then. Stay in whatever camp that is.

Marquez North played some QB in the 10-11 season. He was 46/79 (58%) 10 TDs and 3 INTs

Torrance Gibson played QB last year. 89/158 (56%) 19 TDs and 3 INTs

Im not saying anything. Just putting some numbers out there

The qbs didn't run much last year because they couldn't.. That's the whole point.. The offense could've clearly used a DT qb to keep defenses guessing on the reads.. That's the whole point of our offense, and why we r recruiting these DT guys so hard. We don't have to have Peyton manning to run this offense.

This thread has shifted from "he's a great athlete who needs some polish at QB" to now he apparently doesn't know how to even throw a football...

Pretty pathetic isn't it? One of the best QBs in the country has us as his leader and everyone should be excited. I remember last season many on here were saying we need a DT QB to be successful in CBJ system. Now one of best DT QBs in a few years wants to come here, people act like we don't need a DT QB. The kid is just entering his senior season and people are knocking him.

I wish people would let his senior season speak for itself. If he does end being a WR, then so be it. However the kid can improve on his accuracy. His natural abilities and God given talent is rare and cannot be taught. I certainly hope Gibson doesn't read this thread, especially recently.

It looks like we are reaching out to some other QB's lately. So I really do not know how hard we are recruiting him. But you take a kid with this kind of athletic talent due to versatility. We still are not set at safety, or corner. We are penciling people in now but we can use depth everywhere.

Quez had a ton of offers to play QB at the next level. Darn glad we were able to convince him to play WR.

I just noticed Vic's JR year he completed 32 of 57 with 4 TDs and 2 INTs. Seems we may have a lot of Ex-QBs playing for UT. :)

I'd guess North bought into the idea that his future millions would be made catching the rock and not tossing it early on. I'd say he made a wise decision.

Hell, if we move Quez to QB we might not get as many walk ons this cycle.

I think Butch took 2-3 last class. If we get Williams, IMO we would be alright with just 1. Of course there is a very good chance Williams tosses for another 4500 yards this year and his offer list may have him taking a scholarship vs walking on. We'll see what happens.

Weren't gentrys stats comparable to gibsons playing against nm defenses compared to the best in the country?

Gentry's Jr season vs Gibson's Jr season:

Gentry threw and completed twice as many passes. But less passing yards and less touchdowns. But played in 9 games, while Gibson played in 14.

In Gentrys soph season, he threw about the same amount of completions and attempts compared to his Jr season. Although his TD number and yards were much higher.

CBJ could very well be ready to take TGs commitment today. He may not. All I am pointing out is just because fans say so(Harrell & Johnson situations), does not make it accurate.

You'd have a better chance of surviving a Hydrogen Bomb explosion in your mouth than ever seeing Torrance Gibson's Tennessee commitment being turned down.

We get it. You like Williams. But why even bother re-iterating this all the time? You are talking about settling with a potential walk-on as our 2nd QB. Do you even know what conference we play in?

Anyone know what is left at AH besides TG and McFadden? Reason I ask is we might get a better feel for TG's ability without Michel and McKenzie. They will probably put more on his shoulders so he has the chance to silence all doubters.

Actually Williams as a walk-on would not be our 2nd QB. He would probably start out about 4th or 5th. Yes he may be 2nd in the class, but IMO our top 2-3 QBs would be set for 2015.
