Given the fact that we didnt play Florida regularly prior to divisional alignment in 1990, few UT quarterbacks from the era prior to that year had the opportunity to play a combined total of five or more games against Florida and Alabama. Before attempting to answer your question, let me point out that Casey has the second best career winning percentage (.773) of any UT quarterback and his road record of 14-1 is better even than Peytons (13-3). The closest contenders to Caseys combined five victories over Florida and Alabama would include the following:
Bobby Scott (1969-1970): 3-1. Bobby probably had the most impressive and most enjoyable season vs. our two preeminent rivals in 1970. We beat Florida 38-7 and Alabama 24-0; Scott established a then-school record vs. Florida of 385 yards passing. He also had the pleasure of defeating Alabama 41-14 in 1969, a game in which we led 34-0 before pulling all starters.
Johnny Majors (1954-1956): 3-2. Technically, Johnny was, of course, a triple-threat tailback, but, within Neylands single-wing offense, he led the team in passing all three years. Johnny had the pleasure of playing some of Alabamas worst teams and shutting them out decisively, 20-0 in 1955 and 24-0 in 56.
Tee Martin (1998-1999): 3-1. His only loss within the two series was UFs 23-21 defeat in 1999.
Bobby Dodd (1928-1930): 4-1. The only quarterback in Tennessees history other than Peyton Manning to achieve All-American status, Dodd was part of the Gene McEver-led 28 team that put Tennessee on the proverbial map by beating the mighty Tidy Bowl boys 15-13. With the possible exception of whomever may have been Tennessees quarterback in 1932-33, Bobby might be the only other UT quarterback to lead the Big Orange to two victories against the Lizard Nation in his career. Incidentally, Tennessee was 27-1-2 in games that Dodd started (
