Yeah that's my biggest concern with Gibson.. I don't like that he's waiting that long to commit at all.. We can't afford that being in the situation we r in. Getting Jennings first would be a little insurance tho.

I could see that playing out. IF the staff gets Jennings on the 7th, then they have some insurance and at least a QB for depth purposes. Maybe he progresses well and can be in the discussion to be UTs QB at some point. Then IF Gentry does not choose Tennessee, waiting out Gibson is a possibility. No doubt other QBs could pop up on the board between now and NSD. As I have said before I wish we could sign Gentry and call QB good for 2015. If they get Jennings, IMO they plan on taking 2.

I really don't see how Auburn's current QB compares to Gibson being in Butch's offense. Other than being spreads, Mahlzahn's system is significantly different than Butch's. The point probably is that Gibson might be better in Auburn's offense than Tennessee's. Butch's offense actually works better as a pass first, run second with the QB. The runs are to keep the D honest and inflict some damage on them if they are not.

That's not to say that Gibson cannot be developed into Butch's style. Butch offered him so he believes he can. That's all I need to know. As far as level of competition goes in HS - that is fine to consider it. But it is well down the list when it comes to QBs.

Butch and jake have never had a qb close to gibsons athletic ability, so we really don't know what all they'd do with him.

I guarantee they are tired of Worley being scared to run when he has opportunity.. That's a big part of the offense we haven't been able to tap into because our guys aren't threats running. Defenses knew exactly where the ball was going.

Yep.. No way they'd take jj and just call it a day at qb, especially being in such good spots with some elite.

Edit: for those wondering, I'm a nobody who doesn't get paid to evaluate or e-analyze. Im just a normal "Joe" that wants my team to return to relevance.[/QUOTE]

Shouldnt that be a normal Geranimo :)

Gibson will be a superstar somewhere on the field even if it's not at QB(even tho I think he will do fine there)

Gentry is a qb or bust

We need a QB, though. Not a potential WR.

I'm all for either guy, but recruiting a guy that could ultimately end up at another position is counter productive for QB recruiting, especially considering JJ is a Vol.

There's so much digital assault going on in this place when an opinion is given I just wanted to preface my statement with an explanation that I'm not trying to earn a spot with rivals or 247.

I don't subscribe to sites and I'm not close to any sources. I dont post much bc it would be a waste of space. I try to be funny on occasion with little success.

Carry on...

No seriously. ..please carry on. I need info to steal so I can pretend to be "in the know" at work. :)

It amazes me how so many of us on here actually think we know what the hell we're talking about. We just spew bs onto the keyboard and post it for all to read. I think blah blah blah even though I have very little, if any, idea as to what I'm talking about. But I do watch highlights!

You know what I think? I think we're all morons.

Disagree. There are a handful of people on here that know what they're talking about.

Having knowledge of sports isn't as unattainable as some make it out to be.

This guy would be filthy in Malzahn's offense. I wish we had a QB with this guys wheels and talent. Film is awesome. Hope we get him, so much talent.

We are all just armchair QBs, wanna be coaches, and talent scouts. This is a message board so all of us can post our opinions and discuss recruiting. Not all opinions will be liked and not all of us have the greatest football IQ but I still wouldn't want to keep a poster from posting their opinions even if it is full of blah blah blah.

Ehh. I think a lot of us know a great deal. Even if most on here don't know a whole lot about talent evaluation, at least most on here do know a lot about UT football. Some know more than others, but nothing about talent evaluating, recruiting, etc. is an exact science. We're all learning as we go too no matter how high on the knowledge ladder we are.

This post makes me realize I need sleep

I agree with respect to your first assertion. However, there are some tantalizing clues if we go back to Butch's days at CMU. Dan LeFevour certainly didn't possess Gibson's athletic ability but he posted some mindboggling numbers in Butch's offense. Dan started as a freshman in 2006, the year before Butch became head coach. As a sophomore in 2007, LeFevour rushed 188 times for 1122 yards and 19 touchdowns; he also passed for 3652 yds. and 27 more touchdowns. If he had compiled those numbers at a major program, he would have received serious consideration for the Heisman.

He holds a number of career records that place him in rather elite company. "On December 1, 2007 LeFevour became the second player in Division I FBS history to pass for over 3,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season (Vince Young was the first). On September 12, 2009 at Michigan State, LeFevour passed Byron Leftwich to take over as the MAC all-time leader in total offense in a career. He currently holds Mid American Conference records for career completions, attempts, passing yards, passing touchdowns, total touchdowns, and total offensive yards. LeFevour is the only player in NCAA history with over 12,000 passing yards and 2,500 rushing yards and currently sits 2nd all time in total offensive yards. He was responsible for 150 total touchdowns, placing him in second place among FBS quarterbacks" ( Dan LeFevour - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). To put his career rushing stats in perspective, had LeFevour amassed his 2,948 yds at Tennessee, he would be 3rd all-time, trailing Travis Henry by only 130 yards.

I also wasn't taking a shot at anyone that does bring info like Ron, Wu, POA, Flowd, Breaker, etc. Etc. (Only the one's that can't stand to be challenged like.......haha like I'm gonna make e-enemies) I love this board and reading tidbits about our chances and what Hubbs/Fort say. I enjoy the differing opinions and conversation. But all the high school girl eye clawing is as useless as an talent evaluation from me. Im thankful the scroll on my phone works well.

Following this young man on Twitter... Not very many tweets about other schools compared to the ton of re-tweets of Tennessee stuff from fans.
