Do you agree that Creamer is a good example of someone adamant about getting his shot at a position? How long did it take him to get moved? I'm making ZERO statements about JJ or TG or anyone else, I'm just saying that I think Butch will give them legitimate shots, but the competition might not take very long to see a clear winner. Maybe the loser of that competition is TG; then you get a speed freak/play maker on the field with JJ or QD. If JJ loses, then same thing; a potential NFL safety?
My argument is not that they will see playing time, or even that they should or should not be moved to different positions. My argument is that there is evidence that Butch will gladly take top athletes and use them to win...
Creamer is tough IMO. He is a legacy and was headed to UT IMO at TE, WR, DE, QB, or whatever. Yes, I do recall him saying he was a WR and was being recruited as a WR during his recruitment. I do not recall him saying it's WR or nothing and he would not sign with a school recruiting him somewhere other than WR.
I do fully understand why people say JJ could move to S and be an NFL talent. A lot of "experts" say it is possible. Of course these kids themselves can be a little tougher to buy into it if it's something they don't want. JJ could decide tomorrow at playing defense is fine with him. I don't see him working as a S in camps. I don't see him running routes in camps. I have not read where his HS coach wants to move him to defense full time. I see him playing QB in camps and looks to be a full time QB at Blackman this year. I just don't think the "move" will be as quick as some others think it will IF it comes at all. Of course I do get that a lot of people saying he will move quickly is to aid in their mindset of taking the 3rd QB and Gibson being a Vol. As I have said for a while, I just do not see where as of today at least, Gibson is any better QB prospect than Jennings is.
