I'd say we are in on a few of our qbs top 3 and butch will close out on one soon....I personally believe dormady is the guy if not Gibson.....but it is a little strange we are not recruiting more qbs.

I think we are in on Darnold too. Especially when he visits. Think the kid from Oregon is a possibility although he is probably down the list some. I haven't seen the quotes from Dormady since getting the Ala offer. Has he said they lead or anything that would get him all the CB predictions or just the writers assuming that since he is Bama's top target he will automatically be a bammer?

AU/OSU/OR/ND/FSU/UF/bama, and UT are all in on some of the same kids. One goes here, one goes there and who knows how it will all turn out. I think UT is very much in play with 3-4 QBs or more and there is always the chance the coaches like one the fans may not realize. I have little doubt the coaches like TG a lot. I also have little doubt that if a QB wants to commit now VS waiting till NSD the coaches will take them.

So let's say it plays out like this, which I think is pretty realistic

AU - Locksley commits at the Opening
OSU - stand pat with Borrow
Bama - Dormady
UF - S.Jones
FSU - Francois
Oregon - Waller or Barnett
ND - Barnett or Waller

Looks like our options are down to Gibson, Cutbirth and Matt Williams imo.

It's possible. Locksley is a key to how things go for us IMO. I still think he plays for dad at Maryland.

UT signs Cutbirth and Williams walks-on and I am informing Butch I want a scouting position for Tennessee.

Very well could be true, I'd just like to see what they actually had to say about him. Where is it that bama now has Dormady as their #1?

Charles Power (Bama's version of Hubbs/PFort) posted an update on the Bama247 board a day or two ago. Said that Saban and Kiffin loved Dormady and that he was a "perfect fit" for their offense. He also CB'd Dormady yesterday to Bama which triggered everyone else doing so.

He never really flat out said he's #1 but I put 2 and 2 together after the update.

I put those two in there jokingly but that would be hilarious and sad at the same time if that happened.

The most dominate force in the Juco ranks at QB.

Per, Me.

Larry Cutbirth - Hudl
So, uh, do the coaches even know this guys name or did you just pull a random guy out of nowhere and repeated it enough to where people think we are recruiting him lol. This would not make any sense to take a JUCO guy, especially one with no offers.

Just a matter of time before he blows the roof off the entire recruiting world. Do the coaches know him? Probably not. Did I watch some Juco QB film over on the Scout Juco board and claim this to be the next big name? Of course. With the loss of Riley(2 years in the system), I do see where replacing him with a seasoned Juco kid vs a HS kid may make sense. Now if that happens or not I have no idea. Should you EVER take anything I say talent evaluation wise to the bank? Hell no.

:eek:lol:

I was kinda surprised we didn't make a bigger run at Rivers.

If Barnett does not quickly commit to OR, I'm curious if the coaches make a push there. Most seem to think he is now an OR lock, but it was posted on twitter he is now "open" and is looking at oregon, bama and Tennessee among others.

Haha I gotcha man. I'm not sure the coaches would take a JUCO who wouldn't play this year which would leave us with 3 junior QBs in 2015. That would be insane if this turns out to be our guy and you called before everyone

That would just about set me up for an OCI thread bump/pat myself on the back moment.

Of all the positions, QB has to be the deepest investment, unless you just tailor your offense to the player. That said, I'd think going JUCO for a QB would be a very unattractive option. You invest a ton to get a player up to speed... even if he is an upperclassman (i.e. Worley), it still takes time to transition to a different offense. I think you go with Dobbs/Peterman for 2015, or you get a true frosh that crushes the competition.

So u would tell dormady no if he was ready in hopes of Gibson choosing us over auburn.

Uh, yeah. We are currently leading for the #1 ATH / # 8 overall prospect in the ESPN 300. Why jeopardize our chances by accepting a commitment from a mediocre (the 20th-best "pocket passer" QB) guy at the same position?

Let's be clear: Dormady is a contingency plan in case things go terribly wrong with a lot of others (Gibson, Francois, Waller, etc.). If he wants to commit, our coaching staff will be honest and tell him to wait, just like we did with Sterling Johnson at DT.

After he left Knoxville, Kiffin kept a close eye on our targets (Kerbeyson for example) and offered them when you wouldn't think they'd be USC material...maybe dormant fascination with us? If he has ANY sway with Saban, the fact that we're heavily interested in Dormady has to have kicked in the sales /con factor.

Weren't you the one satisfied with signing just Jennings at QB, and worried about how taking another QB might possibly alienate 2016 QB prospects? If we don't get Gibson or Francois, I don't think we get a QB this year. I'm perfectly happy with just Jennings at QB, so there shouldn't be any urgency from UT's perspective that might convince them to accept a commitment from a random prospect like Dormady right now. The only potential complication is if Francois says he's ready to commit before Gibson...

Yes I was. When Ferguson left, that changed things for me and IMO taking 2 now is a must. Taking 3 as some suggest? NO WAY. I don't really care if TG tries to commit on NSD. If we have 2 QBs committed, TG can look elsewhere IMO.

If the staff prefers TG, they could tell him the situation. "We are taking a 2nd QB and have one lined up IF you want to wait till NSD we will be going that direction". It's TG's decision to make then.

Of course we fans have no clue who is the better QB in reality. You say it's DF/TG or nothing. Some may think Dormady is the best QB. Some may feel Waller or Jones is. Only ones that matter are the UT coaches. I am curious to see what they do.

Dormady got a CB today to UT. Seems like people get CB's whenever they visit anywhere these days.

Auburn sure had a Bust when they decided to take on that Cam Newton guy.

Just kidding, I know what you're saying.

Dormady is far from a mediocre pocket passer nor is he a backup plan. Kid is blowing up and a team with a few NC the last few yrs is the QB at the top of their board. They can't afford to wait on Gibson when he isn't a guarantee to sign with UT. If Dormady wants to committ I would bet they don't say wait and lets see what Gibson does. If come commitment time and Gibson wants to be a Vol then you worry about that then. We can't afford to not get a talented QB in this class and doubt Gibson says forget UT just because Dormady committs.

Well said. Truth is nobody, not even the Coach's know who will be the nest QB will be. Definitely a crap shoot and just hope the kids live up to the potential that is seen in them. But definitely agree who knows who the best QB is now and how they will be in 2,4 yrs.

No chance we just takr Jennings. We will have 2 jr QB's on the roster when these guys come in. And there is no guarantee Jennings is a college QB. Not a risk the can take. Will be atleast 2 and like mentioned earlier let Williams walk on and try to earn a scholly.
