Nah he's going to Aufarm

He might but not sure he does, especially with AU getting White last yr and forget the kids name that was AU's back up. Of course on the other hand Gibson's skillset is a better fit for what AU does. Not completely sold on Gibson as a passer.

Found something interesting in the Deondre Francois thread today. According to Francois, "[Butch Jones] thinks that I'm the best quarterback for the program in the 2015 class."

This, of course, seems to contradict everything Gibson has said about his conversations with UT coaches, which indicate that he's the staff's top target at QB.

I still think Gibson is the top QB target because he clearly has the highest ceiling of any 2015 QB and we offered him about a year ago. By contrast, we only offered Francois in February of this year (and, for the record, Zach Gentry in Dec. 2013). I will concede, however, that others may have been right in saying that our staff has probably told multiple QBs that they're our top target.

Apparently, he also said the same thing - or a slight variation - to Devin Smith in last year's class.

What's new today in the TG thread? We still think he sucks and don't want him? Committed to Auburn yet?

You're right Ron let's see:

1) he hasn't played his senior season but he sucks

2) his accuracy sucks and he cannot improve at all

3) he is full of himself and is a huge trouble maker so that means he sucks

4) CBJ has recruited him very hard but he most likely doesn't like Gibson and is only recruiting him for the heck of it

5) the only thing he does is throw screens even though his film shows him throwing the deep ball very well

6) all he wants to do is run and not pass even though this cannot be proven

7) he is a terrible fit for our offense

8) it doesn't matter that CBJ and the coaching staff really want him, because he ultimately sucks

9) he took a visit to AU and committed on the spot so it's time to look at some other QB

10) because he messed up once in HS that means he has a shady character

11) apparently he has a lazy work ethic

12) he is a twitter diva so that means he sucks

So yeah it seems to be trending the way you said.

I can attest to this since I just graduated from AU (went to UT my Fr. Year but then out-of-state tuition forced me to transfer). Ain't a damn thing to do in Aubarn, AL except get so wasted that the only thing you are capable of doing is throwing toilet paper up in a tree.

I rest my case - I was there once for a weekend my freshman year. Whole lot of nothing going on - seems like we did some drinking at one of the frat houses that weekend - but Cookeville is a metropolis by comparison.

Didn't want him anyway.

How pitiful it would be if he came in here and read the 'he sucks' jokes without knowing the background!

Sign TG up and let's see some TDs to North, Croom, Pearson, Pig, JJ, Jenkins, Vic, Preston, and whoever else wants to commit!

Really looking forward to the offense this year and beyond.

QB: Worley, Peterman, Dobbs, Jennings, Gibson?
RB: Lane, Devrin, Hurd, Paulk, Scott, Reid, Love?
TE: Downs, Branisel, Wolf, Helm
WR: Pearson, Gamble, JJ, Pig, Croom, North, Jenkins, Wharton, Malone, Williams

Just got to keep the talent around on D and build depth.

I don't think there's as many people who think the # 1DT QB in the country is a mid-tier QB as you imply. Seven people in a forum doesn't constitute a majority. For what it's worth I think the pessimism of Gibson's passing ability is garbage. It also stands to reason that if Coach Jones thinks Gibson is mid-tier player then our recruiting efforts have been severely misplaced this cycle. As to the RS statement, I don't think that matters. RS or no RS any QB we take is not going to play much in their true freshman year barring emergency anyways.

Agreed. There may be some question as to how good a fit Gibson would be for specific offensive systems, but these rankings within national top 100 lists do not suggest "mid-tier" status: ESPN (No. 8); Rivals (No. 51); Scout (No. 14); 247 Sports (No. 20).

I agree to a point it helps having a QB that can throw if need be we have some great WR'S and RB's our Line and QB play is what is gonna worry us this year.... As much as i love that old school smash mouth run it down their throats we need a QB who can make plays!!

Also I hope Gibson see's the chance to lead tennessee back to the promise land!!

You can still run the ball with this system. Look at Lesean mccoy

Auburn has reached out to Waller to express their interest in recruiting him........ QB race is going to be really interesting

True. From AU Rivals -

Rivals250 Anaheim (Cali.) Travis Waller says Auburn is expressing serious interest. No offer yet, but one could come. Alabama is heavily interested in Waller. Our west analyst, Adam Gorney, says that he reminds him of Braxton Miller.

Very interesting! Doesn't sound like they truly hold a slight lead for TG, and must not feel great about their chances of landing him, Locksley, or Francois. This re-affirms to me that Butch will land one of his top 2 targets...Gibson or Francois. JMO, TIFWIW.

Top 2 targets today or all along? I don't think those 2 were always #1 and #2 on the coaches board.

This is easily the most polarizing thread of the year. You either love him or hate him, but I'm pretty sure everyone hates this thread right now.

Personally I don't care if he commits or not. We are in on several other very talented QBs. I would like for him to be a Vol, but I'm not losing any sleep over it if hes not. And yes, I hate this thread, but for some reason, I keep clicking on it....:dunno:

I'm with you that I personally don't care if he picks us or not. I don't think I hate him, but I guess that means I certainly don't love him. I'd prefer a pro style qb to complement Jennings in this class.

I'm with you guys. Don't really care. The staff decides to take him, hopefully it works out. Losing Riley has me thinking taking a kid with a much better passing skillset would make much more sense.

No, I do not hate the kid. :)

I think part of the problem is a lot of folks see TG as a mid tier QB himself. Some even feel he is a major project so not sure that would even make him "mid tier". After losing Ferguson I am quite sure the staff will add that 2nd QB asap. Most know I was 100% against taking a 2nd kid in 2015. After Riley left the staff does not have much of a choice IMO.

Very likely Jennings RS's. IF the staff takes Gibson I'd bet he RS's as well. Your going into 2015 with 2 QBs and 2 guys who would not be close to ready. I think that is why a lot of the people on this board are kind of shifting their "QB wants" to Dormady, or another QB like that who throws the ball a little better and may be able to play sooner.

Honestly, Leb, it would be hard for anyone who reads the RF not to know what you are thinking.

Yeah...gotta nip this "Let us know what you're thinking" crap in the bud. :stop:...no place for it on a message board.

Not what I was saying. We know what Leb is thinking because he NEVER stops saying the same thing over and over. At least he's consistent.
