'15 CAN F Kyle Alexander (UT commit 5/7/15)

We always talk about how a kid's offer list reflects recruiting better than what the player is ranked necessarily. If Kyle has such enormous potential, isn't it a little odd that Tennessee was his best offer? I just know as a fan base, we've judged a lot of players based on who they have offers from, and Alexander has a bunch of mid-major offers. O

It's called looking at things through orange tinted glasses. I'm sure Dallas is already comparing him to Olajuwon.

On a more serious note, he was only on the AAU circuit 1 season I think. 2 at most. There really isn't much out there on him, and he hasn't been exposed to a lot of coaches.

He's tall, long, athletic, and supposedly has good hands. He has a ton of tools to work with.

I actually understand it considering the wear and tear on the body for a big man starting at a young age. His dad probably knows all too well with his knees and back. Talent always catches up. Give this kid a couple of years and he's going to be a baller.

Add in his close to 40" vertical leap and you have something to work with.

Really think this guy is a lot more athletic than Owens, but less experience.
Would think he'll have to play if they miss on Izzie.

I like the Joel Embid comparison. He is already 205. Owens I think was never above 200 even while here. I think if he gets up to 220 by the start of the season then we will be doing great. Our S&C coach is tops in the country as well. When is Todd wright supposed to get here?

There was an article where he and his father were quoted as saying he preferred soccer early on and his father didn't feel like he should pressure him into playing basketball.

He's also a Canuck. Although I don't know this about him, hockey is king up there. If he played, his center of gravity may have gotten too high and he switched to hoops. I don't know, but seems plausible..

Pretty good pickup considering all things. The kid seems to be pretty raw. If he plays much this year, he should be good for a few rebounds and blocks every game at the very least.

I believe his potential and upside is enormous. He could potentially turn into a very special player for us in good time. I guess that's true about every player as well though.

The difference between him and most other players/prospects is that they have been playing ball basically their entire life in most cases. Kyle has what, 3 years in the game to date?

Does anyone see Alexander as a major contributor next year? It seems there is a consensus, he has potential over time but I don't hear much about how he might impact next year?

Depends on if we get some more help. If so, he will redshirt IMO. If not, he is forced into action and you will see flashes but also you will be frustrated because hes definitely not reading to compete at this level yet. I know it sounds like debbie downer, but im really encouraged by this get. Big future for him if he puts in the work.

Not that it really matters, but he's not a Canuck. Wasn't his dad from the Buffalo area?

Canucks are French Canadian, I've got them on both sides - easy to identify: loud, hairy, one eyebrow, very Neanderthal looking etc.
