'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

It only makes sense good WRs would want to play with other good WRs to keep a defense from being able to shadow towards one guy. I think we did pretty well (on offense) last yr when we had 4 guys catching balls that had nfl talent

I definitely agree with you, but in this case, one of our main selling points has been, "Come in and play right away." However, if that line was used with Booth, and we pick up Malone, it's likely that he'll RS. I think it's likely that Pearson will pull a CP and leave after one season, but then Preston Williams will be coming in to slide into that spot.

Basically, if Malone commits, I just don't see Booth starting until North leaves... which is unfortunate, because Booth is a baller and would start at most other D1 schools.

You don't have to be a starter to get significant snaps / opportunities as a WR in Butch's offense

The best players in the 2-3 deep will play so our guys have fresh legs in the 4th qtr

Definitely would be a good problem for us to have. I still want Booth though. I don't think he will change his mind. They already told him they were going after Malone and that was before he committed. No surprise to him here.

Appreciate the respectful response. I'd obviously prefer a win tomorrow AND a Malone commitment. But I honestly believe that having Malone on the roster gives a better chance to be successful in 2014 than a win at Kentucky in 2013. Just my opinion.

So you would rather Butch Jones' first year at Tennessee be historically bad (the first 8 loss season ever)? Trading all the bad press to get one recruit? That seems suicidal, at best retarded.

I would much rather beat Kentucky so that Butch Jones can save some face. Please bring on Malone too, but if I had to pick one or the other... I pick a Tennessee win.

Without hesitation I would trade losing today for Malone.

No difference in 4 or 5 wins regarding wins/losses next year and beyond. Malone wins us more games IMO

We have been saying our WR class was loaded for a couple years now. That hasn't been the case

And we had stud WRs throughout the Dooley era.

I'm talking about the class as a whole anyways. We have thirty plus commits and one more is going to be the difference maker?

I fully admit Malone or any other recruit could be less than advertised. However I am buying into the hype.

Regardless losing today changes nothing IMO other than pride.

Didn't realize playing the I'd rather game would play into either situation.

A win today and a big showing by our true FR QB could help lock down Malone, as it would help him see Butch's vision clearer. Don't trade one for the other. Today could be a win-win day, if our QB can throw the football effectively.

This discussion is stupid. Winning the game is a part of recruiting Malone, no doubt about that. This is the last time he will see us play before he makes his decision.

Agreed. Huge day for Malone and for dobbs. Most important game in dobbs career.

If we kept looking to the future with recruiting and it never got here wouldn't that make us Georgia? Don't anyone ask me what this means because I have no idea.

Agreed. I just couldn't believe Vol fans were arguing for going 4-8 in order to get a recruit.

I don't know if this was true or not but didn't Malone take a surprise visit to Kentucky at one point?

In the Spring, in the Fall, would you rather see one of the top freshman WRs in the country lining up, stretching the field, creating separation, running free, catching the ball opposite North and or Pearson.

Or would you rather be able to say, given that we evidently have 1 legit SEC WR in North, if we just had one more playmaker at WR this year.... but boy, at least we beat Kentucky last year.

Of course I don't want UT to lose 8 games for the first time in school history. I'm just looking ahead and seeing which occurrence helps our team next year and beyond. That's all.

Do you think we havent already gotten a ton of bad press and negative recruiting? This year is already a colossal failure... we're already being laughed at, looked down on, being written off for next year. I'm just saying we need as much talent as we can possibly get on next year's team and adding the best WR left that we have a chance to land helps the team more.

Btw, way to stay classy with the retarded comment.
