Oh I know. Coaches don't have much time now days. I think Cal got a pretty good coach but you really never know. Either way, I could see a program on Cal's level being a good fit. One to watch IMO would be West Virginia. Holgerson isn't gonna make it up there IMO. And Franklin has pretty strong recruiting ties in the Maryland, Va, Pennsylvania area.
Yeah I'm not sure how much of a "step up" WVU is, but it would give him a better fan base and a conference where if your not a perennial powerhouse, you can compete. Interesting you say Pennsylvania. I'm not sure exactly what to expect, but Bill O'Brien will eventually be a HC in the NFL IMO. Maryland is kind of meh like WVU. It would give him better resources uni wise, a better fan base, and a weaker conference similar to WVU. Maryland fans can be really good. Go back to the Greivous (sp?) Vazquez days in basketball.

As far as Cal's coach, Sonny is meh. He's kind of like a poor man's Petrino. He's offensive minded and that's all good and well if you have a good defensive mind in your staff. He also just got beat by Northwestern. Northwestern is good this year, but them beating Cal would almost be like Vandy beating USCe this year.

WVU is a major step above Vandy. They are now in the Big 12, there's quite a draw in itself. I mentioned Maryland because that's a major recruiting ground for WVU. I wasn't talking about the school Maryland. But I don't think Holgerson's will make it. They have 3 BCS wins in 10 years. There's not even a comparison to be made between WVU and Vandy.

lol WVU was really close to losing to William and Mary the other night

Yes they were. What's your point. They are light years ahead of Vandy as a program. They're not an elite program. But to insinuate they are Vandy level is just plain ignorant. You must be young, it's easy to tell.

??? i didnt say anything about Vandy. mixing me up with someone else???

all i said was how bad WVU played the other night

Let's rationalize it with this thought: "Josh, hopefully, we have convinced you that it is most unlikely that James Franklin will be at Vanderbilt for your entire career, should you decide to attend that institution."

I think we've established Richt probably won't be at Georgia either.:)

Wasn't Franklin the head coach in waiting at Maryland and then the AD decided to go in a different direction when there last coach was let go? There's no way in heck Jimmy would go back there after that slap in the face if it was indeed Maryland that passed on him.

I'm confused. Didn't Cal just hire a coach? And didn't Nebraska hire Pelini with zero HC experience? Serious questions.

Edit: also, what year was it when Bama blocked the FG and flew to the other end in FG range for them? Thanks in advance

1990

Vols were big favorites to win. Bama's first year under Gene Stallings and lost an early game to La Tech (I think) - maybe had 2 or 3 losses already.

Games was tied at 6-6 late in 4th qtr. Vols line up for long FG try - Bama blocks it and ball rolls 20-30 yards before Bama recovers. Van Tiffin kicked the game winner and Bama wins 9-6

One of the most sickening losses in my memory

lol. Georgia loses a close game to one of the best teams in the country in Week 1 and we're already talking about who the new coach will be. Gotta love the SEC.

It was horrible....Kelly,Pickens, Morgan, Harper, and T Thompspn and only managed 6 points.....Sending G Amsler over the top from about four yards out still has my stomach churning.
