Nothing new really. Said OSU is recruiting him the best. Elder was by the school a couple of weeks ago.

Got beat by JRM in the 1st round of the playoffs. JRM was awesome, one man wrecking crew on O and D. Josh dropped at least three balls that could have been TDs.

Kid needs to apply himself and return to his sophomore form. Too many drops all season.

Top 4 schools standing out the most Notre Dame, Ohio State, Vandy, and UT.

He had an interview with Mike Ferrell at the U.S. Army Combine.

Yup. Here's the video...

Army Combine: Josh Malone - Rivals.com Video

When Farrell asked him if he saw any games this fall and he named off like 8 schools and said UT was the craziest atmosphere. Said ND, UT and Vandy stuck out for schools with a history of good WR's. Said Elder stopped by his school after being hired at UT.

Sounds like this one will go a long time before he commits but I like UT's chances if they make him a priority.

History of good wide receivers = Earl Bennett and Jordan Matthews? I can't really think of a name past that for Vandy and I wouldn't quite call that a good history.

I didnt like the way he was going to say Tennessee third but switched with Vandy and said "then Tennessee" as the last school he mentioned. It just seemed as if he was making a point to say Vandy was ahead of Tennnessee.

Sounds like Vandy is recruiting him harder than we are... This kid is an exact replica of Justin Hunter, its cliche but its true. He also doesn't look 6'5" in his interview. Once we win some ball games kids will be interested again. He knows Tennessee is Wide receiver U!

"Despite wanting to see more schools, he'd like to make an early decision but that may not be the end of his recruitment.

"Right now if feels like it's probably going to be before the season next year," Malone said. "That's what it's looking like, but it will be a 'soft' commitment. I want to get an early decision made, but then I'll see who really wants to stay with me and are willing to stay in it to keep an eye on my options from there.""

Why?

"It's a good feeling. It feels like my hard work is starting to pay off," he said. "I want to thank all the people that have helped me get here and, of course, God."

It is far from a surprise that Malone was invited to the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He is well-known on the spring and summer camp circuit.

"I have 14 offers right now. Really, not many schools are sticking out right now," Malone said. "Most of the national programs really come to mind. I'm just trying to focus on the academic side right now. I want a good business school that I can go to and succeed at.

"The in-state schools are coming after me hard. Ohio State, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Mississippi and Alabama," he said.

Lately, it seems like Ole Miss has been a popular school among recruits. It probably has a lot to do with the nation's top recruit Robert Nkemdiche looking more and more like a future Rebel. "Nkemdiche kind of helps Ole Miss with me," Malone said. "They still have to prove they can compete."

Of the in-state schools, it sounds like the Volunteers have a pretty good start in the recruiting race for Malone.

"I talked to Coach Graham and Coach Jones over at Tennessee about a couple weeks ago," he said. "They're good guys I just want to meet them in person."

Anyone in Gallatin know if his dad is former Green Wave John Malone, who graduated in 1979? John was tall and could run like the wind and was a great individual.

I'm not sure if he is or not but i have a litttle cousin that plays on the team with him and he says he came over from virginia but he also says he really likes the vols so tifwiw i guess well see.

From Rivals -

Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp wide receiver Josh Malone, a Rivals250 to Watch list member, was tabbed as tops among all offensive performers, earning Combine Offense MVP and punching his ticket to the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Not sure we want to take this kid. I have heard he has great talent, but has not given his full effort at Station Camp and has a bad "It's all about me", David Ricky type attitude. On the flip side, I've only heard one side of the story.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I do have my sources. And no, I'm not going to reveal them.

I believe last seasons drops should've cured some of that, but I've heard things along those lines. However, lets not forget that this kid is a big fish in a very little pond at Station Camp and he's been told how great he is for awhile now. I tend to cut kids slack in these situations. I hope we land him.
