'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

Yeah Blair and Raulerson were the two I had penciled in there. Idk what would happen if all 4 of those guys and Malone wanted to commit. At some point we gotta tell people no because I don't think there is any way we are taking 6 more on offense.

I never felt like we really had a shot with this kid. Seems like he wants to follow his own path. Good luck to the kid wherever he ends up at.

I don't think so, he's much too talented to be afraid of a little competition. I suspect it may be more of a clubhouse chemistry type thing (i.e. attitude, character, and/or the alleged dislike of Hurd). It could be that Coach Jones recognized the potential for conflict and unrest and decided to back off of Malone in the interest of maintaining the close bond that's apparent with this current class. Pure speculation, of course.

If so, that's too bad because Malone is an awesome talent.

He had a very solid true freshman year and then got mixed up in what his family wanted and not what was best for him. In the end, it all worked out for the kid.

I wonder if Butch wanted him to attend this weekend and he refused. Maybe Butch saw the writing on the wall and moved on. I don't get the feeling he's on him like some of the other recruits. It may be that he's not as accessible as some of the others. I've Hurd he doesn't use social media.

IF Malone cuts us off, I'll be shocked if he doesn't go to Vandy. Georgia's still the only team I see that could get him, but that's a long shot. I'm catching the "Stay home to Mom" vibe. Nothing wrong with that, if he's OK with getting embarrassed every year.
