Any good comparisons for Herd?
From a poster on VQ, TIFWIW.
Some say Eddie George....I see more of an Erick Dickerson type runner. Eddie was very "foot heavy" ED was shifty and nimble, but would run through you if he had to.
Watch Hurd run in the open field and that is all I need to know about his athleticism. His head NEVER moves, even on an 80 yard sprint. There is no bobbing or side to side. Same way the elite sprinters are...very relaxed through the head and neck.
WE NEED HIM!!!!!!!!!
Hurd loves the new staff. Period. Yes, he was a little disappointed to see CJG go, but who wasn't?? He will spend plenty of time with the new staff, and will be making several trips in the coming months (one, of course, being the Orange & White game).
He still has a close relationship with CUM and tOSU staff, but he is a Vol lean all day long. If they fall flat on their face this year, expect him to go up north with the Buckeyes or down south with the Gators. For now though, he's hoping to see a productive (not extraordinary - he's not delusional) season from the Vols. If this happens, he will stay home. End of story. He loves the support that he receives from all over the state. Most everyone that he associates with wants him to be a VFL!
Also, I wouldn't really try to compare him to anyone else. He gets the Eddie George thing a lot and has remarked that he wants to be better than him. Also, most cannot take his junior highlight tape into account. The kid played with a torn shoulder (labrum) the last 8 games of the season. Those highlights (while great) may not be a good representation of how well he truly plays when he is not injured.
Thanks 74. Post seems both credible and reasonable.
