I am sort of confused about some of these comments about we are going to have to wait and see how they do in the fall. If you are a VFL then go for it. Otherwise, move on and lets find a quality running back that wants to be at UT.

UT is not going to get better when we have kids who proclaim to have orange blood saying well, I will have to see. The other schools in the SEC have loyal kids that would go to their school regardless of the record. Bama was getting quality recruits when they were going 3-8. Auburn just had a horrible season and they are getting player. Why no loyality to UT? There is no hope if kids who grew up orange have no loyalty to the orange.

Alabama's last losing season was 2003. In 2004 they finished #24 in rivals team rankings.

I do understand what you are saying though.

This guy is saying what alot VOL fans are thinking IMO. I myself have wondered why we don't have more loyal in state kids. I see Texas get 4 & 5 star kids every year even though they suck every year. So you can't say it does not go on. I was even amazed at how Auburn got the players they did this year after last years season and the possibly of being on NCAA probation. USC is another example. Every player knows that Kiffen is trouble and that they have probation limitations but they get loyal players every year anyway. Notre Dame, Florida State and a few other schools are all the same. They can have years and years of lame seasons but still get very loyal high profile players commit every year. So why doesn't UT? Not even our Legacy's are as loyal as I would like to see them be. Very concerning sometimes for me.

UT coaches have not recruited the state as hard as they could have, going back 30-35 years.

I understand what you're saying. Kid grows up pulling for / loving UT, UT offers said kid, kid oughtta go to UT, end of story. A large part of me gets this. And we do have some kids this year that seemed to do just that. But there are other kids who have so many options with teams that have had much more success than us recently. So those kids explore those options. I don't like it either, but I do understand to a certain point. Clearly times have changed. Plus, it's awfully early in the process and anymore unusual for for kids to commit this early. Not really sure why you're getting so much heated response cause I get what you're saying.

Food for thought. Only 2 of the top 10 and 18 of the Rivals 2013 top 50 stayed in state to play college football. The USC/Cali combo was most common.

It's what these kids do.

That has to be a little skewed. Kids from some northeast and western states may not have many decent options in-state.

Vol74 seems to be close to Hurd and posted this in the graham thread...

"He made a big impact on Hurd. Yet from the news that I am getting from the Hurd camp this morning, they hate to see him go but it hasn't changed their opinion on how they feel about the new staff.

UT is still good with Hurd. Now, they just need to get a good RB coach to come in and start building relationships."

Isn't that show based in Nashville?

It is but they are not anti Vols or pro Vandy if that's what you're suggesting. Chad Withrow is on the midday show that said it and he's as Pro UT as anyone in the state. I don't agree, at all, that we need to get used to the fact that Hurd is headed out of state and not to UT, but Graham didn't exactly have him locked up.

Good news. I'm sure CBJ has already made a call to Beech HS. Go pay large cash to get a great recruiter, preferably someone who already has a great relationship with Hurd to get him landed. Love CJG but he didn't exactly land a top rb, the position he coaches, through 2 recruiting cycles. Just sayin.

104.5 just said Tennessee wasn't really a big player for Hurd with Jay Graham anyways. The guy is going out off state, we might as well get used to it.

Not gonna get used to it, not a forgone conclusion, regardless of where CJG was with him. Time to get him with the right replacement.
