Good to see some Portlanders around these parts. You guys were there during the golden years of Portland football. I remember watching those 90s teams dominate when I was a kid.

To stay on topic, Jalen Hurd would be an immediate impact here no matter where he lined up, and Butch will do the necessary leg work to put us in position to grab him. He can't make the kid's decision for him, however.

Why would we ever need to pay attention to UK in FB recruiting? Just because they have a new coach doesn't change the fact they have nothing else to offer a recruit over a place like UT. Nothing.

They're not really built the same though IIRC. Gerald was one of those backs with tree trunk legs and low to the ground running style...Either way, getting compared to Turner is a helluva compliment. He was a gamer, and what happened was a real tragedy.

Remember the 4* TE who had been committed to UT since Fulmer. All he wanted was some contact from Dooley's new staff to let him know he was still wanted. Dooley "kept evaluating" until he finally flipped to Clemson. This was within a couple of months on the job, and we blindly defended him. Surely he knew what he was doing... right... :unsure:

Yeah I defended him too...but that incident along with his transfer release policy was already causing much uneasiness

I don't think I've disagreed with one of your posts a single time since being on the board. Mostly I just read, post alot around nsd but I think it's easy to see that Dooley brought in some talent and did his part. He just wasn't cut out for this league. Without using him as a scapegoat, it all escalated with the end of fulmer and the kiffin ordeal. We have some descent depth and talent now, and we will see how coached up they can be.

Well that's interesting because the flap was that the UT staff didn't think he would be a tight end but an OL. Looks like their projections were on target but I guess you shouldn't tell a guy what his real position is going to be.

the problem is, he could have made that same switch at The University of Tennessee.

recruiting is a coach's lifeblood.

there should be no "misunderstandings" when doling out offers to kids.
Recruiting has a lot to do with reputation.
these missteps turn from small ripples into Huge waves . and the waves capsized our boat.

Hopefully, we can right the ship, starting with Hurd and the 2014 class.

You can't be serious. Dooley didn't recruit Vonn Bell hard at all. It's 100% Dooley's fault Bell isn't a Vol. He didn't try but he certainly did fail, you got that right.
