And so we're clear, I'll continue posting whatever the hell I like.

Great. I'll continue to confront you when I feel like you're posting something ridiculous like this.

I'm not sure how many locker rooms you've been in but in my experience the ideal situation is that whoever is in that locker room together can trust one another. I would go so far to say that there is an implied trust amongst members of any athletics team. This may be a concept you are very familiar with an if so, I apologize for treating it like an unfamiliar subject.

Whoever "leaked" Josh's breakdown, if a breakdown even happened, broke Josh's trust in my opinion. Any damage that was done was compounded when that news was posted here. For every two of you who think more of Josh as a person because of this moment there are three who think less of Josh as a football player.

So, the next time that you want to rip one of these young men because they're not living up to your expectations, take a moment and reflect on what you just wrote.

Fine, feel free to remind me of this the next time I rip into a UT football player for not performing up to my "expectations." I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on it.

At this point I'll go ahead and wait for you to make any rebuttal you wish to make. I'll read your rebuttal and then bow out of the discussion.

Thanks for the lively debate and have a good evening.

You're blowing that way out of proportion IMO. He wasn't talking about a player with a drug problem, or any other deep dark secret.. He just said they've had rough days.. Which is expected of athletes fresh into a big time football college with that much pressure on them from everywhere when they should still be in highschool right now.

If you've been in those locker rooms like u said, u know that "breakdowns" and things of that nature happens all the time.. Especially the first week kids are thrown straight into the fire.

I was actually born in a locker room...

Yeah, these things happen all the time. Typically we don't hear about it because things like that typically don't leave the locker room. I like it better that way.

Seriously though, this time I'm bowing out for realz.

There are days that they ALL want to quit or feel that they don't belong until they have defining moments when they realize that they do. Every freshman goes through it. Kind the point of the whole conversation....

That's life, not just football, as both CAB and 2002 have alluded to. This is good insight into what football at this level does for them. For some, it comes for the first time when trying to start a business at 25, or lead a team at 30, or overcome a failed marriage at 45. For some it's the death of a parent at 15, or taking 20 hours of classes at 19, etc...

The point: our response to adversity makes us who we are and defines our future. Glad for these kids that they are learning this now!

Thus endeth my lecture.

Personally, I disagree. I think it is helpful for us to see a glimpse into the lives of these *people*; we are able to see behind the sprints and one-handed catches and bone-rattling hits and recognize little bits of ourselves there. Then we can watch them overcome those things and see champions being made--inspiration! Or, we are better able to have a deep compassion for them when they struggle!

Thanks OH and 74!

There is no way that's sanitary.

Exactly! Will have some of the same adjustments if he progresses to the next level which is pro football. Every level you move up to has an adjustment period. Some quit and go home. Others play through it and become stars. We have seen plenty give up and go back home over the years. Now, you will see them adjust and become great players. All first year players deal with change even kids who don't play ball and just go off to college. These guys will be fine but will have days of doubt and struggle. These tough times will mold them into gold and the big orange into champions. But, it does take time.

Yes, we all have struggles. So, the next time that you want to rip one of these young men because they're not living up to your expectations, take a moment and reflect on what you just wrote.
