I got to spend some time with (secondary) coach (Willie) Martinez and Trooper Taylor, Kelly said. I got to tour the campus and everything like that so I enjoyed it overall.
Kelly has a long relationship with Taylor from when he was an assistant at Tennessee from 2004-07. Kelly and Taylors son, Blaise Taylor, grew up playing youth sports together. The families remain close friends
Coach Taylor to come out whenever he could to watch his son play and me and his son were both stars on the team, Kelly said. Hes tried to keep up with me ever since.
My sophomore film really got him excited as well as the Auburn staff and thats when they decided to offer me.
Growing up in Knoxville and having a father that played for Tennessee in the early 90s, Kelly already knew plenty about the Vols program when he attended last Saturdays Junior Day.
They treated me pretty well, he said. I got to talk with Coach (Derek) Dooley. I sat down with him with my parents and we talked about the University and what they have to offer. It went well overall as well.
Even with his ties to the Volunteer program, Kelly doesnt have any current favorites and plans to take his time with a decision.
Im still undecided, he said. Im going to let everything take its course and just go slow because Im only a sophomore. Only time will tell but there shouldnt be a decision anytime soon.
Yeah have fun trying to get this one.
