I think it was carlos younger that said this guy was the best db in the state, he said he was quicker and more athletic then kelly. Does anybody else remember this and what are your thoughts on the quote?
Buck Fitzgerald (Corner36) posted it on VQ.
I am not sure I agree. I think Gaulden is underrated on most sites and a legit top 200 guy. But I think Kelly is better.
JMO.
Highly unlikely he would be the last DB take. They need corners desperately.
I was thinking we need DL bad and if ut gets him, mouhen, Blair, and the berry twins that's only leaves ut with 5 spots... so then IMO wouldn't u try and take 5 DL if you can(Hendrix, Barnett, lamin, Lambert, Humphreys, etc) don't you think.
You take as many DL and quality corners as you can get to close out this class. Dont think for a minute this staff wont take up to 32 or 33 commits if it is the right guys and weed out a few at the lesser need positions when the time comes. They did that at Cincy every year.

So you think the coaches would accept a kids commitment, call them part of the family, part of the foundation, tell them they love them, and then drop them for a higher rated kid closer to NSD?
If the kid has the grades and stays out of trouble, cutting them loose after they are "family" would be a severe black eye for the staff moving forward IMO.

It's a shark tank out there. Nature of the beast.
I understand that is how alot of schools handle recruiting. I think the fact this staff seems to be preaching "family" it has the recruits buying in and committing early. If it all proves to be BS closer to NSD and kids are dropped for no reason, of course the next classes will know better than to trust what they are being told. It's a slippery slope IMO. I for one hope the coaches stick to the "love" and "family" recruiting and value a kid who chooses to be a VOL early.
Could we possibly sign that many guys?
No.
They feel some long time commits will be dropped for better talent closer to NSD.
If it's grades/qualifying or character(getting into trouble) issues, or taking other visits, I would be fine with cutting them loose. Otherwise, a current Vol commitment who has shut down his recruitment should be a VOL on NSD.
Gaulden is way underated. His explosiveness is off the charts. At least Rivals is somewhat in the ballpark having him in their Top 250 but he should be higher IMO.
I dont know what in the world 247 is looking at having him a 3 star.
