'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

If we get Gaulden, I say let him sit 3 years, pack on 30 pounds and play him at OLB. He has speed, yes, but he'll be a step behind in the SEC. His instincts are fantastic, though, and he would be a perfect style fit at OLB

When Chris Weinke won the Heisman a local DFW sports radio host predicted that college coaches would get QB prospects to play baseball for a few years, mature and unfairly become stars....I see the same faulty logic here

The last couple of pages of this thread have some really dumb a$$ posts. Gaulden may be the best defensive back prospect in the state. How do you get sitting him for 3 years? Dumbest thing I have ever seen.... except for the kid that knows him personally (wink, wink). Miami is a dumpster fire and the extent of their sanctions is still unknown. Could get hit with significantly ore penalties when all things shake out. They have zero fan support and he' ll have fun playing in front of a half full stadium (which is a dump of epic proportions) for 4 years.

All of the following posts I think were poking fun at the original post which could be considered a dumba$$ post

Teague was too. Just saying that because one of the best in our state doesn't mean you pan out. Teague approves this message.

I always thought Teague would have had a better career if he had been kept at WR.
For sure, started his first career game at wide receiver in 09 against WKU. Contact was not his game. Had some embarrassing missed tackles, and went out and ran something like a 4.7 40 at pro day iirc.

How did Gaulden and Barnetts visits go?

"Very very well."

We need those two to be Vols desperately.

I can deal with losing Malone and Bars. But getting Hurd, Kelly Jr, Gaulden, Barnett, Medley, Wharton, and maybe even a Sawyers or a Mosley or a Reagan, would be an amazing haul of instate boys.

And yes, ultimately, I feel like we lose Malone.

I feel like we will miss out on Wilson, too. Shame, because Bars, Wilson, and Malone are total studs. Still an incredible in-state haul if we wrap up Sawyers, Gaulden, and Barnett (I'm indifferent on Mosley and Reagan).

Wouldn't mind spitting in Vandy's face and steal Smith, either.

Exactly. It's one of the few good ideas Kiffin had (playing him at WR). Feel bad for Teague now though, it's like a career wasted.

I had forgot about Wilson. I think ultimately he may be the shocker. I think we may get him. But I'm not hanging my hat on it.

Do you guys think/know if we are recruiting Bars still?

I honestly think we're in on too many fish to be hung up on a kid who was probably never interested in the first place.

I'd like Bars for the in-state factor, but I don't think anybody realistically thought he would commit to the instate school. That family has shown they obviously don't care about distance.

I actually think we get Wilson too. We seem to be trending up with him. As for Gaulden I hope we lock him and Barnett up soon. I also think we're wasting time with Malone he's going elsewhere.

Between McDowell and Gaulden who do you think is the better DB prospect. I know Gaulden is being looked at for both Safety and CB but McDowell is rated just a little bit higher on Rivals and a lot of bit higher on 247. Based on film and everything else, who ya got?
