The 6-foot-2, 178-pound safety, who is a virtually certainty to acquire four-star status with some strong camp performances, also generated a healthy supply of motivation.
"That motivates me. I'm just coming out here putting in work after work," said Gaulden, who burst onto the recruiting radar with a stellar 2011 campaign alongside Jalen Ramsey at Brentwood Academy. "Not trying to strain myself before my senior season, but since losing that one year of recruiting and even though recruiting still went on for me and I still got some offers, I want to come out and show the coaches that I am one of the top safeties in the nation."
"Oh man. Honestly, it feels like I can just gel with all of them. I talked to coach (Willie) Martinez, coach (John) Jancek, coach Jones all this (last) week," Gaulden said. "They love me and they want me to be a Tennessee Vol. You know I felt at home with them. Just being able to sit down, talk to them, chill with them. I'm liking the vibe with them."
Teammates with Tennessee commitment and four-star defensive back Vic Wharton, Gaulden will be reevaluated by Rivals.com during spring and summer. He's expected to be a top-10 in-state player in the Class of 2014.
