'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

"He said he had a great time at the junior day and its definitely a different place than it was in the fall.

He did say Vanderbilt was leading but that the Vols are climbing the charts fast after today."

- Fortenberry

Seriously though, all this will change once they play this up coming season. No way tenn doesn't rise to the top!

I hate the both of you u I live in Birmingham and have been wanting one of those burgers for months :(

Still shows you how far behind Dooley was in recruiting for the '14 class.

New article up on Scout. Says ours was the best junior day he has been to. I don't have a subscription though, so I don't know who the competition is.

Coach Jones definitely showed me something today with the experience that we got to have running out of the T, meeting the players and just having a good time today,” Gaulden said. “It is something that I am going to remember.
“There is a difference from back when Dooley was recruiting me. They definitely climbed charts just from today.”
“I feel (the swagger), trust me,” he said. “Not being that much of a Tennessee fan and hearing coach Jones talk about all his championships and seeing all his players believing in his philosophy, I really feed on that.”
Gaulden, who measured in at 6-foot-1, 178 pounds, says the conversations with the new coaching staff set the Vols apart during his first trip to Knoxville this year.
“Coach Martinez — he was on me like glue. I just love spending time and talking with him. I am definitely going to be up here again soon. Coach Thig, too. I love him. He is a cool, down-to-earth dude.”
“Vic Wharton — him and his parents are just nagging me about UT,” Gaulden said. “They are just like 'when are you going to commit?' But I did have a good experience up here and they definitely weren’t lying.
“We have been good friends since we were 4-years-old running track against each other. That is a pretty big deal. He is working on me slowly. I act like it doesn’t matter, but he is nagging me and it could be working.”
Tennessee is still trying to play catch up with Vanderbilt, who has been on the mid-state athlete from the jump.
“I feel at home with Vanderbilt,” he said. “They are at the top of my list right now. Coming here and getting the chemistry with the new coaches though — they are climbing my board big time.”

sad...

Doesn't sound sad to me. It's early in the process, and we've already made huge progress. Give it time.

Only problem is Malik was a UT fan while Rashaan isn't. So hopefully Vic can work him into committing and wearing the orange this fall

Vandy is nothing.........Franklin is .500 versus Dooley. You do the math. We're going to beat those chumps and turn them back into what/who they are Vandy..........

Props to Franklin for legitimately getting kids interested in his program while we've been asleep at the wheel. But, we're about to knock the prop right out from under them and leave them flat on their faces.

Just remember: that "great Vandy season" happened because of their schedule, not because they beat anybody worth a damn. They're still the same Vandy, and they will get exposed soon enough.

I think it starts with their first game next season against ole miss. this will be the first start for Vandy's new QB and both programs view the matchup as a statement game for the 2013 season. it should be a good game, but I have a feeling Vandy is going to get waxed.

"One of the best junior days I've been to," Gaulden said. "Coach Jones definitely showed me something today with the experience we got to have around the team, getting to meet the players and just having a good time. Something I'm going to remember. "Back from when (Derek) Dooley was recruiting me, they definitely climbed my charts just by today."

"Conversations with the coaches, coach Martinez and coach Thigpen. They reached out to me pretty much all day and I just felt comfortable with them," Gaulden said. "I was with coach Martinez. He was on me like glue. I just spent time talking to him and I'm going to be back up here soon."

"We talk about recruiting all the time. Me and Josh (Malone), we're like, we're probably going to the same college," Gaulden said. "We're tight like that so we talk about different recruiting things and we usually go on visits together."

A big reason Tennessee is climbing back into the mix with Gaulden is because of a new swagger he feels around the Tennessee program.

"I feel it, trust me. Not being that much of a Tennessee fan and hearing coach Butch Jones talk about all of his championships and seeing all of his players believing in his philosophy I really like that," Gaulden said.

As with many guys this recruiting cycle...win a few unexpected games and I really think these recruits will jump on board with CBJ.

The Malone quote makes me feel more confident here. Between Vic and Malone, Gaulden is a vol.
