'14 NC WR Braxton Berrios

This guy reminds me of Kendall Wright from Baylor now on the titans. Great hands he catches everything, but he is on the smaller side, elite quickness and can get up to top speed in 2-3 steps, natural route runner comes out of his break and explodes to get separation.

You know what Kendall Wright's 40 time was at the combine?

4.61- The 40 is a bit overrated.

Bb, what do you think about Myles Autry? Is that who you would like to see the staff recruit to play the slot? He was dynamic with the ball in his hands before his knee injury last year. I am interested to see how he looks this year.

Don't like Autry either felt he was overrated.

I'd normally take a Guy like this but we have more pressing needs.

Would love to have this guy. Has the grades to get offers from ivy league and the skills to have SEC offers. Plays with a lot of passion and would fit into this offense.

I'd take him. He's more of a true WR than Powell and a much better one at that. You still only have 1 true HS WR committed in this class. The other 2 are JUCO's and who knows where guys like Creamer and Wharton will end up playing, neither are locks for the WR position.

We have added Jenkins, Johnson, Wharton, and Booth recently to the slot WR options. Also have another half dozen or so guys on the roster who can play in the slot. I just do not see a reason to keep taking more guys for the same position when we have other needs to fill. If our coaches can't find 2-3 great slot WRs out of the 8-10 on the roster, maybe we need a new WR coach. JMO

Wharton is a WR. And much in the same mold as Berrios. Since Wharton is already committed I say roll with Wharton and go to another position.

What makes you think that? Berrios is a Cincy Butch type of player. We're Tennessee and should recruit accordingly.

Here's how it went:

1.) I took what I've read about Jones' system at UC and the type of WR he liked to recruit

--and combined it with--

the ESPN note that said Berrios is a smaller, shifty,WR that works the defense horizontally by running crisp routes and catching everything thrown his way...

2.) leading me to the conclusion that Berrios would fit nicely in Jones' system.

So, that is "what makes me think that," and was/is my only point. I thought it was pretty clear, but maybe it was not.

Now, onto your point... Which is, what, exactly?

"I'm a fan of putting Athletes in systems not going after system players."

You're a fan of putting athletes in a system? Quite the trail blazer you are, indeed.

Okay, maybe your point is that this guy is a system player and not an athlete?

--4.52 forty-yard dash

--3.81 shuttle

--40-inch vertical leap

Seems pretty athletic to me. Does fitting a system preclude athleticism?

"Berrios is a Cincy Butch type of player."

So maybe you're saying that he's not the quality player that TN should recruit?

Fair enough. Maybe he's not, but...

A decent offer list including Miami, Ohio State, Clemson, South Carolina and WVU, plus the recent interest garnered from the Vols' staff, combined with the numbers from his performance at the Opening, all seem to support a dissenting notion to the one (I think) you're touting.

"We're Tennessee and should recruit accordingly."

We do finally agree on something here.

I'm not blessed with omniscient football talent evaluation skills like yourself; hell I don't even watch the tapes. But, I wasn't originally making a judgment on his talent level, just to the possible appropriation of his given skill set.

I hope that clears up any possible, albeit improbable, misconceptions.
