What makes you think that? Berrios is a Cincy Butch type of player. We're Tennessee and should recruit accordingly.
Here's how it went:
1.) I took what I've read about Jones' system at UC and the type of WR he liked to recruit
--and combined it with--
the ESPN note that said Berrios is a smaller, shifty,WR that works the defense horizontally by running crisp routes and catching everything thrown his way...
2.) leading me to the conclusion that Berrios would fit nicely in Jones' system.
So, that is "what makes me think that," and was/is my only point. I thought it was pretty clear, but maybe it was not.
Now, onto your point... Which is, what, exactly?
"I'm a fan of putting Athletes in systems not going after system players."
You're a fan of putting athletes in a system? Quite the trail blazer you are, indeed.
Okay, maybe your point is that this guy is a system player and not an athlete?
--4.52 forty-yard dash
--3.81 shuttle
--40-inch vertical leap
Seems pretty athletic to me. Does fitting a system preclude athleticism?
"Berrios is a Cincy Butch type of player."
So maybe you're saying that he's not the quality player that TN should recruit?
Fair enough. Maybe he's not, but...
A decent offer list including Miami, Ohio State, Clemson, South Carolina and WVU, plus the recent interest garnered from the Vols' staff, combined with the numbers from his performance at the Opening, all seem to support a dissenting notion to the one (I think) you're touting.
"We're Tennessee and should recruit accordingly."
We do finally agree on something here.
I'm not blessed with omniscient football talent evaluation skills like yourself; hell I don't even watch the tapes. But, I wasn't originally making a judgment on his talent level, just to the possible appropriation of his given skill set.
I hope that clears up any possible, albeit improbable, misconceptions.
