From hometown newspaper."Tennessee, they've been here for two months, and today they told me they wanted to offer," Moseley said. "I couldn't pass up the SEC."
Moseley, a lightning-quick player with elite acceleration, has accounted for six touchdowns (four rushing, two passing) in Dudley's last two games. Though he plays offense and defense for the Panthers, he said he was recruited as defensive back for Tennessee.
Moseley said he dreamed about playing in a big stadium and large crowds growing up, and he will certainly get his chance to do just that with the Volunteers.
The capacity for Neyland Stadium is listed at 102,455. Moseley has visited Tennessee's campus in Knoxville, and he said he was in awe the first time he walked into the stadium.
"It doesn't feel real right now," Moseley said.
Moseley said Tennessee defensive backs coach Willie Martinez handled his recruitment the last few months, and linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen was also in contact with him.
Moseley, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, said fellow Tennessee recruits and current Volunteer players had already reached out to congratulate him.
"Speed and athleticism. I'm not really a big guy," Moseley said of what he hopes to bring to the Volunteers. "Hopefully I bring quickness to the secondary."
"Mosley has one of the things you can't coach, elite speed. He turned heads at several camps and combines this summer with his times in the 40 as well as his leaping ability.
"He has played corner, wide receiver and quarterback for his high school team so he's pretty versatile, but there's no question he still has some growing to do before he's ready to contribute at the next level.
"We haven't measured him in person but over the summer he weighed it close to 150 at one event and needs to bulk up to play on an SEC defense.
"He's a developmental prospect for sure but obviously the Tennessee coaches see something they like and they got in on him before any other major programs"
Moseley fits in perfectly with what veteran defensive backs coach Willie Martinez wants. Moseley can run which is key as the Vols look to improve their speed on the back end. And at 6-foot tall, Moseley brings some size to the corner position. Martinez likes to have longer or taller cornerbacks.
He certainly also brings speed. Anyone watching watching Tennessee the last few years could see the Vols needed to upgrade the speed in the back end and the Vols feel like they helped that aspect of their unit Tuesday.
Tennessee head coach Butch Jones and Martinez trusted their own eyes in the evaluation process and while not highly ranked, some in North Carolina believe the Tar Heels and Clemson are going to start calling.
As for the defensive back class, it means that Tennessee is likely close to being done on the defensive backend in the class of 2014. Tennessee is certainly holding a spot or would make a spot for Adoree Jackson if he wanted to be a Vol and Tennessee is continuing to recruit Elliot and Evan Berry.
Think I read he hasn't been playing that long. Otherwise I'm in agreement he's got great measurables aside from his weight. What the hell Am I missing.
The kid has great length.
He has elite speed.
He has been very productive.
Yes he lacks physicality but very few hs kids have it.
How is this kid so far under the radar???
