I'm not sure what he expects. I personally expect for fans to be slightly more mature about what a 17 - 18 year old says and does in regards to recruiting, not get all bent out of shape over it.

Must just be me though. Damn my upbringing!

And yet they never seem to think there is anything wrong with what they are saying. Take the last two or three pages for example. Everybody just assumes he's only talking about twitter...

I am not sure what's being said on twitter but it wouldn't bother me one bit to know he is reading this thread.

He needs to understand that saying one thing that is stated as an absolute and then less than 24hrs completely doing the opposite loses trust. It's a real life principal he needs to learn.

If he wasn't seriously looking before, he probably is now.

Still don't understand why he said what he did and now going on an official. Not an unofficial with tickets but an official. How would a UT fan be happy about this?

Again, I don't think anyone minds him going to see that game. Hell 90%+ of Volnation wouldn't turn that ticket down (on a different day than Saturday) but he specifically said "I am calling A&M and telling them thanks, but no thanks". Going on a visit does not equal what he said yesterday. I don't get mad about recruiting and I don't bash people...I'm more curious as to why he gave UT reporters those quotes and then changed his word today.

gbo

Let the kid go to the game. He owes us nothing. I hope and believe he is a Vol, but if I was 16, 17, 19 or 20 and could official for this game all expenses made to my moms alma mater I would.

While I dont expect something to happen and him not be in Knoxville come January, if it does, then its out of our control so lets just take a deep breathe and let it all unfold.

The only thing that can come out of freaking out is negative reaction from a recruit.

you need to understand that you and your mom have never and will never be invited to be on the sideline of virtually a NC game and your only knowledge of the recruiting process is via message boards.

He doesn't owe you anything and in real life will never have this opportunity again. If he ends up somewhere else, that's where he is supposed to be.

Grow up.

The post you quoted has nothing to do with recruiting or my knowledge of the process which is by the way much more than just based on a message board.

My post was simply about the consequences of telling lies. That consequence is losing trust. It's really simple

so he said he wasn't go to visit? Or he said he was going to tell them no when offered? Did he tell Butch he wasn't visiting? Have you said something before and changed your mind? Or does that make you a liar everytime if it does occur.
See, it's not simple.

so he said he wasn't go to visit?

Have you said something before and changed your mind?

Yes he said No more visits.

Yes I have changed my mind and the consequence of that change was losing trust.

It's really that simple.

All I am saying is we can't believe any reports where he is quoted.

I have stated my thoughts enough.

Hope he ends up being a Vol!

This just in...an 18 year old kid said something and then changed his mind. The world is ending...The sky is falling! What ever will we do???

I sense a lot of butt hurt here and it's all pretty comical. Guess what...the sun will still rise tomorrow...and the world will still have way more problems for you to worry about than this.

Ethan didn't say he was shutting everything down a week prior. It's not the visit that has people thinking suspiciously. It's his words versus his actions. Not that hard to understand.

Do you think he had an all expenses paid trip to what could be the biggest game of year outside the BCS Championship game in the bag when he originally said that? Probably not.

I'm as VFL as they come but if I had a chance to go see that game without paying a dime I would take it.

I hate to agree with the curmudgeon ... but he's right. You can't say you're all Vol one day, will contact TAM to eliminate contact ---- and then reverse course the next day to schedule an official visit.

All credibility is gone.

100% agree. Me and my mom love the Vols. telling me she loves them make my choice easy. I belong to the Vol family. I know A,m will call and want to know what's up, I will shoot them down.

Next day: I'm gonna visit A,m y'all.....

How long have you guys been following recruiting?
This happens every single year, and hopefully we have a coach in place who can hold on to kids from Texas/Florida/Georgia when their state schools come calling.

Have some faith and see what happens.

About 10 years, how bout yourself?
