'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

When the 2014 season rolls around and they are in camp getting ready to do some DL work, I think it will work itself out. When we have Ryan Jenkins lined up at DT next to O'Brien, I think Lambert will see the problem and agree to slide to DT allowing Jenkins to move back to WR. JMO

I suppose if we did land another Juco DT and he was closer to 290-300, he could play DT and Lambert could see reps at DE. I think he will play both, kind of like Malik Jackson did for us.

Did Carr every actually practice with DE's? I thought first day of fall camp he was with DT's?
I think they started him at both. I remember Strip saying a few days in "Jason is strictly working with the tackles now". Now being the key word.

I'm not sure he ever did though.

When you look at what we have coming back, I don't think anyone on the staff has to make any sort of promises and even if they did, they weren't blowing smoke.

What's more is, you don't recruit JUCO's at this level, for depth. You do so because you EXPECT them to be in the mix for a starting role. Otherwise it makes little sense to bring in a guy with only 2yrs eligibility to ride the pine and take up one of your valuable 85 scholarships

Not the post I was expecting from you

I hate having guys playing more than one position because that means we don't have established guys at the other spots. If he does settle at DE he could slide inside for passing downs though similar to what Justin Tuck does

Right, but we have 3 scholarship DTs next year and at least double that at DE (returning guys only)

I figured you would learn and stop this nonsense by now... Guess not. I'm pretty sure Butch is aware of our glaring needs, but continue to make yourself look silly though

@DaLamb89 informed me tonight that Gator coaches have called his grandma all day. No need to answer he said. #grandmaisallvol

LOL

Grandma is not a fan of snow crabs IMO. She loves peanut butter though!

This is getting really sad LV. I actually agree with you AGAIN. There is something terribly amiss in the world.

J/K I do agree with you though. I think he sees time in both spots. I wouldn't mind seeing us pick up J Ward too. I think he could split time between the two positions also.

I agree with this too, but I'm thinking pick up a Juco and 1-2 HS DT's and we are good. Having 1 or 2 good experienced guys that can slide into that position to give a breather when needed sounds good too though.

The plot thickens. DaVonte has been quoted saying that he was promised a spot to walk in an start immediately. The catch? At Defensive End.

"Coach Jones told me that, basically, I'm going to walk in there as a starter at defensive end,"

The thing is I think we also said something similar to Carr and he's now a DT. I still expect DaVonte to be given a shot at DE first like he was promised.

This happens all the time.
