When you're a winner (like this staff) and you take in a winning mentality with everything you do it doesn't matter what conference your in. You know a winner when you see certain coaches/athletes and butch jones is a winner. He has won on and off the field everywhere he's been. He's energetic, positive, personable and instantly had this program buzzing again. Coincidence? I think not. Try to discredit that all you want but you know in your heart of hearts he's a damn good football coach.
Great post Rise. The whole idea that "Butch ain't never done or proved nothin cause he coached in the Big East and this is the SEC" is a stupid argument. Almost all the top coaches work their way up thru lesser conferences until they get to the top programs. It's their system, organization and ability to recruit that makes them successful no matter what level/conference they're coaching at. A few of the top college coaches right now come to mind immediately .... Saban, Meyer, Kelly ....
I don't think anyone's thinking anything different about the crystal ball stuff. The criticism has been how they can constantly change their predictions on a whim. I think the reason for excitement here is that he's announcing in 5 days, so a change in predictions usually means word has gotten out. And also the fact that Mansell changed his pick from UF to UT.
