'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

Ha ha ha.

Think we get Lambert? I am starting to think we will. Can't wait to see how this class closes.

I'm much more optimistic about our recruiting now than I have been in a while. I think we have a great shot at getting him, and some other big time kids. I think Butch and staff have leveled the recruiting playing field with the upper echelon of the SEC.

So you feel Lambert, Barnett, Mosley, Hendrix, and the Twins are in the boat?

Give me Chris Williams to finish out the class and we are good to go.

I feel that is the rest of our class with Adoree being the possible wildcard. I know I have said in his thread that I feel he will stay out west I reserve my right to change that given the fact the way that CBJ has recruited him and also based off of how high he has been on us after his visit here. I have heard that if we made it past his FL visit uncommitted then our chances of landing him would increase.

I didn't mean it as a dig at Muschamp. Obviously, he knows how to recruit. However, I like Butch's odds going head-to-head with Muschamp on a JUCO kid that wants early PT and isn't a Florida native.

I agree with you. Also, I don't know Muschamp or know how he treats recruits and players off the field, but he strikes me as a total jackass with his game day antics. Judging from afar, I'd much rather be around a guy like Jones than Muschamp. I'm not saying that as a homer, either. Jones just looks and sounds a whole lot more likeable to me.

Not that a kid can't change his mind but hasn't Jackson always planned on committing at an all star game or NSD the whole time? Was there really anyone thinking he would commit while he was at FNL?

I've seen this posted a number of times. I understand the sentiment given CBJ's great start (and the fact that I'm on a UT board)....but Muschamp's not exactly a slouch recruiter especially for defensive recruits. Certainly, UF to an extent recruits itself and gives Muschamp an easier go of things than most coaches have. However, people forget that Muschamp recruited well before his time at UF (Texas, LSU, Auburn). So, all in all, I think you guys have every right to be confident that CBJ can win the battle.......but it's not likely he's going head to head with Dooley here :).

I am going to disagree, you listed 4 schools that are super easy to recruit to as examples of his recruiting. Maybe he can recruit, but doing it at those schools is a cakewalk.

Auburn is the only one he would get cred for. Recruiting with Saban doesn't count. UF/TX don't count either.

UT mods and Florida mods are saying it's a UT/UF race

Auburn mods are calling him to Auburn...That worries me

Kind of like they called Derrick Green to Auburn last year, right? Seriously, the Auburn mods are some of the most homerish toolbags out there. I wouldn't worry about a thing they say.

Could we make it so he is going against Dooley? I hear he's available. We'll even pay half his salary for the next 2 or 3 years.

Hey gators, what's the word on your sites? UT or UF?

Honestly just very hard to read, lots of people seem to be just guessing. I have kind of felt he is a lean to y'all so gun to my head I would say he commits to y'all.

Well no one ever really has a bad word to say about Muschamp other than rival fans. Everyone at Florida loves him and his players love playing for him. He certainly is animated on the field but I like it. For what it is worth I really like Coach Jones so far though, I think he has y'all on the right path and you'll be back to prominance sooner rather than later, and most importantly he is doing it right. As a fan who had Urban Meyer as his teams head coach then transitioned to the current staff, I know how nice it is to feel like your team's coach is not only a good coach and recruiter, but he is doing it the right way. I cant wait for some epic Muschamp vs. Jones games in the future.

“tennessee, the facilities and the coaches’ and the players’ bonds are just phenomenal,” he said. “and the coaches, the way that they went through my film and showed me how i stepped wrong and everything, it was just crazy how they just told me how i can better myself as a player with my technique.”

“i could say coach strip’, he’s a very nice guy, and coach jones,” lambert said. “they basically just talk to me about life and everything that’s going on around in tennessee and in the world.

“i sat down with coach strip’, and he showed me my film and compared it to other films — like, with his players and drills and stuff that he does — and he showed me, like, things that i can better myself on the field. I just feel like, if i was to go there, it would be perfect because he’s going to help me in the long run with all my techniques and everything.”

“playing time, of course, is always a factor, because i don’t want to come into a place that has a bunch of sophomores and juniors and everything,” lambert said. I want to come in and play right away. All three (finalists), actually, are telling me the same thing about playing time.”

He spoke pretty highly of UF and the Barn, too. I just didn't post those quotes. He is a big fan of Garner, but I'm not sure if they are in front of UT or UF.

Garner may be a better recruiter, but I believe Strip is a better coach.

Vol...only makes sense with Humphreys, Williams and Ford news.

Lambert and Barnett are Vols and we are holding last DT spot for Elam IMO.

Mosely is an OL.

How big of a risk do you see this? When I listened to Elam's interview (I believe with Hooker? unsure who now) He said that Ky was his leader, and named bama and us also ??
