'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

I agree, McCarron's a good QB. But he's certainly replaceable. Saban has a 5 star committed this class and one already committed for next class. Good to great QB's line up to play for him. But they're all replaceable.

Totally agree. McCarron is definitely replaceable. He's a good QB but any good QB would have had similiar success at Bama during these last few years.

I agree with this. There are several who could do as good as McCarron or better. He is good but not as good as people act. He definitely shouldn't be in the Heisman conversation JMO

That would work too. I'm just so tired of hearing about Saban and Bama. Let him go to some washed up conference that no one cares about anymore. And most important of all, let Bama make a bad hire or two so those fans can enjoy the taste of mediocrity for awhile.

Like the 17 years prior to 2008 and Saban? Man it was sweet but it seems so long ago. Funny how quickly people forget. In the mid 2000's they were down to 3 and 4 wins a year. Some, like Cowherd said they would never be good again. Good times! Their mid 2000's record was almost identical to our Dooley era.

Most of my UT fan childhood was during Alabama's down years. I always knew my dad hated them more than any other team, but I never truly understood why. Now I know.

I know, people forget quickly don't they? Back in the mid-late 90's when I was in HS and then at UT we beat Bama 7 straight! They were poo.

Yeah but I can at least understand people thinking the 90's are far off, just not 2007 and earlier. They've been good 6 years not 15. We can return to prominence just as fast. Like I said, people thought bama couldn't, which was crazy. Elite programs always come back, and they were WAY worse off than us. Anyway sorry for the OT. The disrespect for UT from some kills me sometimes!

This is how Tennessee has stayed in the crapper so long. These kind of kids keep getting poached. We need all the line help we can get.

Exactly. Tennessee's calling card as of late is to lose these guys last minute and replace them with marginal "filler" type players. At some point this has got to stop. A new Sherriff is in town and his name is Butch Jones.

So was Gabe Wright. Gardner is a bad position coach who is a great recruiter. Also, he is a dirty dawg.

I don't know enough about his overall coaching record, but he has done a great job this year to develop young DL and renew the play of upper classmen like Dee Ford, Wright, Bradley, Equae, etc. He has been able to rotate successfully 10-12 lineman and keep them fresh at end of game.

Gardner is a bad position coach

This hilariously inaccurate 'fact' was perpetuated by naive Georgia fans after Garner left because his coaching style didn't mesh with Todd Grantham's (another DL coach by trade) 3-4 defense. Now Georgia fans want Grantham gone too after his defense looked like **** again this season.

Auburn's DL was trash last year and is by far the best group on defense this season despite losing by far it's best player when Corey Lemonier left early for the NFL. Garner's list of NFL draft picks is huge, and DL is not a position where you can just sign a bunch of 4-stars and send them onto the field for easy success. It is a demanding position that requires coaching, with the only exception being for uber-athletes like Clowney.

Garner is a great coach, no question.

There was some obvious problems while at UGA. The D line was not performing and recruiting was not up to par. That's not us making stuff up. There were so many stories of recruits that had an issue with Garner.

1. Gardner is an okay position coach at best. Sorry, truth hurts. Great recruiter, okay coach.
2. Chizick got canned because of his historically awful offense. The defense played fairly well considering.
3. The Auburn d-line was chock-full of really good players in 2012 and 2013.

The Auburn defense is, statistically, around the same place they were last year. But the offense being light-years further along has covered up the deficiencies (2012-118th and 2013-15th in total offense).

I don’t think there was a loser in the Garner/Wilson ‘trade’. Both will be good. But Garner is a recruiter who can coach, and Wilson is a coach who can recruit.

Coach Strip is an elite coach who--like David Cutcliffe before him--is able to recruit great players because they know he turns them into NFL players. He’s put a bunch of folks into the league nobody else wanted. I wouldn’t want anybody else.

Ole metroid is a bit of a homer. I expected we would see him again after Auburn had a turn around season. I remember last year him trolling the boards taking up for Auburn beat writers who clearly were talking out of their arse. So I doubt he will see anything other than Garner and the rest of the coaches are a bunch of Vince Lombardis leading the Tigers to Saturdat's championship game. I am glad Auburn beat Bama as their fans(mainly made up of the bandwagon variety) are insufferably annoying. But know it's time for Auburn's jets to be cooled, so their more mild but still irritating fans can chill out as well.

I could be a great coach with that talent.

Chizik got canned because the big money wanted Malzahn instead. The players "gave up" on Chizik and that's why they were so bad last year. There is no such thing as a "turn around" by the Auburn team. They always had the talent.

*crosses fingers that this has nothing to do with Tennessee*

Talk to Lambert yet?

"We haven't talked to him, but we've talked to some close to him and the situation. I think it bears watching a little bit.

Jancek met with him yesterday as they are saving the Jones visit for next week. Auburn is trying to see him tomorrow or saw him tonight. I'm not sure whether they were able to make it tonight or not."

Not what I wanted to see.

More from Fortenberry....

"He didn't stop talking to us, we just haven't talked to him today. People forget he's practicing for the National Championship junior college game that's on Sunday. Everything from Lambert and some close to him is that he is very solid to Tennessee.

But, like I said, Auburn isn't going away and that bears watching a little bit. We're going to have see how this plays out. Tennessee has to still be considered the favorite, but Auburn isn't going away.

One other thing, every time we have talked to him he is mad that people keep asking him about his commitment status. I think he was very frustrated last night that someone said he was flipping today (which obviously never happened)."

It could probably help to get some twitter warriors to reassure him about Volnation support, some Auburn operatives could be doing some undercover damage.
