Being the parent of an addict x-con that finally made it, I salute anyone that is willing to help a kid like this turn his life around and get on track.
If Donnie can do it I'm all in.
Those that oppose are usually bible thumping hypocrites; in my experience anyway.

Getting academically eligible for an SEC school doesn't necessarily mean his grades are poor. He may very well not have the stupid math class that the SEC requires JUCO's to have in order to transfer in. I doubt anyone knows his grades due to privacy laws. Professors or coaches are not out there telling random folks like Hubbs just so he can go back and blast it all over the internet. At least I sure hope not. Athletes' grades should be kept private especially in a situation where one is struggling.

I am a Bible thumper I guess, but I also want to help people who are trying to help themselves. Love them and hold them responsible. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But, if reasonable, you have to try. Dealing with it on a much younger age level right now. Some real sad situations out there.

This looks like the kind of player we need. If the kid can play ball and Donnie Knoxville thinks he can keep him in line then it's a big get.

You don't have to be a "bible thumper" to think someone who repeatedly makes poor choices is a less than worthwhile person. People make mistakes, bad people repeat mistakes. I don't take offense to people getting a second chance, but calling anyone who criticizes seriously poor actions by another a "bible thumper" is way off base and shows you might not be completely in touch with reality.

If I'm remembering correctly Galilee on VQ has spoke about Ellis, as he knows him being from Memphis.

If I'm wrong someone please current, but what I remember him saying was that Ellis had some very bad things and traumatic events occur while at an early age. This caused a lot of issues with him growing up, and he was just a very angry and violent kid. He was placed on medication, and receiving counseling as well to help the anger issues that he had. As long as he continues though Galilee said he's perfectly fine and you won't have an issue with him, but if he stops taking his medication or misses a counseling session watch out.

As I posted months ago in the recruiting forum, this guy is super talented. I'm not sure there's a bigger realistic fish out there in terms of contribution to next years team, and given our front court issue it makes him that much more important. He would likely be the biggest get in this class for Coach Tyndall, lots of work to do both landing him and getting him admitted though.

I feel like there is no need to bash the kid for being a "thug." Ellis has developed this way because he saw his mother get murdered when he was 10 years old, he's been through a lot and he's trying to work on his anger.

Edit...After thinking about it, are you referring to the question of whether Ellis fits the profile? If so, I'd still argue that he doesn't, but these are Donnie's choices not mine. And they will reflect, either well or poorly, on his own words in the end.

Just the discussion we had about Ellis and if Tyndall would recruit him to Tennessee, if the no thugs thing was a lie or was it bent truth.

Well, like I said, he's making his own bed now. Maybe Ellis has turned it all around, and I said that may be the case from the very beginning. In any case, we all heard what DT said, and now we will see if his risk/reward kids pay off or haunt him.

I didn't take what he said to mean the way u r taken it...that being said we are not recruiting for youth choir....let's get him CDT
