I didn't take what he said to mean the way u r taken it...that being said we are not recruiting for youth choir....let's get him CDT

I understand that different people will have different interpretations of his exact wording, and I tried to ackowledge every possible scenario in another thread (not sure which one it was now).

Again, I understand he's not recruiting for youth choir, and if Ellis is turning his life around and seeking help with his anger issues, I'm all for securing his talents on the court.

Well, like I said, he's making his own bed now. Maybe Ellis has turned it all around, and I said that may be the case from the very beginning. In any case, we all heard what DT said, and now we will see if his risk/reward kids pay off or haunt him.

Agree.

Like I said at the time, based on a few things I get the impression he's a bit disingenuous, which as I also said isn't necessarily a horrible thing. The catch is you better win if you're gonna do things like that, you do and all is well, but if you lose those things are magnified.

Doesn't it remind you of someone? Seriously, I learned after a few terrible coaches at UT that you have to play the game in college basketball to succeed (i.e. recruiting, PR, considering exceptions). The more I hear about him, the more he reminds me of you know who. If he wins like him, then everyone will be happy.

I tried to avoid the comparison, but absolutely, reminds me a lot of him.

Dirty Donnie Knoxville - IMO I believe he will do things his way and he really does not care what anyone else thinks. His job is to win games and if he wins no one will really care about anything else. If he loses, well he would have been gone anyways.
BTW in calling him Dirty Donnie Knoxville, I am not saying he is a cheater or even dishonest. He just seems to me to be a guy who is willing to do the dirty work and he is not afraid to step on people's toes. I think he is not afraid to roll the dice and take a chance on players others might pass on.

I don't have an issue with it, didn't have much of an issue with Pearl doing it, just don't f*** up and get caught is all I ask lol.

On that same subject, it's why I want Tyndall to look at Devonta Pollard. Former 5* MCDAA who is an athletic freak. Went to Bama and got into some trouble, found himself in a bad spot and ended up having to testify against his mother to keep himself out of too much trouble. Anyways, played JUCO last year and seems to have stayed out of trouble since.

Is he a risk? Absolutely. However, he was being recruited Kentucky and Troy primarily, which means Cal is obviously willing to do the dirty work as we all know. Go sell him on coming here and making the NBA, and all of a sudden this roster goes from looking like a CBI team if lucky, to NCAAT team (assuming you add the other pieces) IMO.

Agree with you on Pollard. This is big boy basketball and no reason to be tentative. I hope CDT will be aggressive and take some risks. Again I do not want a cheater, but Cal, Coach K, and even Coach Pat Summitt did not succeed by playing nice.

If our competition is willing to take these guys then we're hurting ourselves by not even considering it. Cal was looking at him at Kentucky, and Haith at Missouri.

How true. I remember Pat was accused of "poaching" a lot early in her career as player after player from lower division schools found their way to Knoxville as transfers. She also ran off at least a couple of girls a year for many years.

Being the parent of an addict x-con that finally made it, I salute anyone that is willing to help a kid like this turn his life around and get on track.
If Donnie can do it I'm all in.
Those that oppose are usually bible thumping hypocrites; in my experience anyway.

Actually it was the "bible-thumping" well I use your worn out word "hypocrites" that led my ex-con brother to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and turned his life around....I've never tried thumping my bible though...does it sound like a watermelon???...I agree though...everyone deserves a second chance...and close, CLOSE, monitoring....

Getting academically eligible for an SEC school doesn't necessarily mean his grades are poor. He may very well not have the stupid math class that the SEC requires JUCO's to have in order to transfer in. I doubt anyone knows his grades due to privacy laws. Professors or coaches are not out there telling random folks like Hubbs just so he can go back and blast it all over the internet. At least I sure hope not. Athletes' grades should be kept private especially in a situation where one is struggling.
Your definition of struggling must be different than mine!

I attended UT in mid 80's. She was tough as nails. If you did not fit, you were out the door. 5 am practices were the norm, no limit on practice hours back then. I would go to library everyday at 7am and would see players walking to Student Center from 2 hour morning practice.

It would be so nice if you would stop your campaign.

I know some real thugs. They do not attend college. Didn't even graduate high school. Ellis is just a kid who needs to get himself together.
