There have been some questions about Trinity Valley College big man Octavius Ellis (6-10, 205), who was being recruited by Tyndall and staff at Southern Miss. Ellis has some work to do in the classroom in order to be academically eligible to sign with an SEC school, but at this stage it looks like Tennessee is going to pursue him and try to convince him to get the necessary work done.

From Memphis and was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school. Another name to watch moving forward. Would arguably be the most important JUCO that CDT could add.

He was also one of the players involved and suspended in the Cincy-Xavier brawl.

Yeah he got dismissed from Cincinnati for fighting in a nightclub.

To be honest, this guy would give us some much needed interior presence. Hopefully he can get his grades in order because he definitely can ball.

Not worth the risk. DT has to rebuild this program, but he has to do it the right way and with the right kids. Next year was always going to be a challenge. The potential damage the wrong kid could do in the locker room, to the atmosphere and attitudes of not only this roster but the kids he signs isn't worth it. I'm not saying kids don't deserve a second chance, but at this point in the process, DT needs to make sure he lays a solid foundation and thinks long term. Get the best staff you can, bring in quality kids both in terms of talent and character and avoid the shortcuts.

Guys, relax. All that is needed is a case of re-branding.

Instead of 'thug', let's go with 'enforcer'.

It sounds virtuous, noble, and doesn't make CDT look like a liar right out of the gates!

Never heard the word thug used to describe the Coalfield kid who punched the umpire.

Didn't you see the comments from everybody at Coalfield. The kid was in the right because the umpire told his momma to shut up.

If Bobby Boucher can tackle Colonel Sanders, then this kid can punch somebody.

I wonder if while they were pulling him back he was saying "it's okay guys, Coach Klein said I could."

What word would fighting mean if not thug? He is not producing in the classroom as well...we really need this kind of player?

Well we have 6 open spots, maybe 7 and this kid can play basketball. If you want to win these kind of kids are what it's going to take. It's not like he was pulled over with guns and weed the night before a game...

And just because you may have a temper problem or protect your teammates doesn't mean your a thug
