'14 IN SG Jaquan Lyle

He said he tried, but do you buy that? If its true, which I doubt, he should've kept trying before letting the media know.

This is from rivals...

A source said Lyle parted ways with the Cardinals on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

And here's a tweet from Adam Zagoria who is good friend with Lyle's coach...

“@AdamZagoria: Source close to the Louisville program tells @SNYTV that JaQuan Lyle did decommit and they wished him well”

Lets say one of the 2014 commits for UT announced to Yahoo that he changed his mind, before telling CM. There would be a meltdown on here because it was handled wrong.

If this had been a CM recruit, you would be raising hell.

About what? That he decommited? I didn't raise hell when Landry decommited.

What good does raising hell do, it's part of the game. This is why you don't burn bridges, because you never know what's gonna happen. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Tennessee were to get involved to head Lyle say something along the lines of "Coach Martin was very respectful of my decision and wished me well, he was very happy for me and that meant alot to me".

You have as much proof that Lyle didn't try to contact UL as I do saying he did. If Lyle tried for 3 days to get a hold of the UL staff and couldn't get ahold of anybody then I don't blame the kid one bit for decommiting, that's pathetic.

So you really believe a successful coach like Petino wouldn't make sure that one of his star recruits could reach him at anytime.

It's not a big deal, but Lyle or his advisor should have handled this better.

Like I said there's 2 separate reports from trusted people who said the UL staff was indeed aware, and wished him well.

Iirc Lyle called and informed our staff before he committed to UL, doesn't sound like a "diva". He didn't even have any sort of announcement ceremony, he simply announced on twitter.

I would be mad bc we lost potentially a great player but who cares how he decommits.

I want the best players whether they are a diva or not.

Lots of strange things going on with '14 recruits, decommiting, changing their minds after telling a staff they're commiting. It always happens but seems to be some high profile kids pulling this right now.

I have a feeling there is already an agenda for this kid. Louisville just lost two commits, Memphis lost two unofficial verbals in the past few weeks. Lots of other stuff going on but I have a feeling the Committee will be taking a look at some places like Illinois, especially if they sign Lyles and Alexander.

Bruce? You punkin' out Illinois again?

I wouldn't be surprised if he committed to to Illinois. He's close to Sninder and they had talked about playing together.

That could be Lyles, Black, Snider and maybe Alexander (although he'll probably go to Kansas). That should put them at #1 for '14.

Until Kentucky fills up their class

Just as good a chance that Duke or Kansas beat out UK for the top recruiting class in 2014. UK is "stuck" with the #9 PG (Ulis) and #3 C (Towns) per 247Comp. Even if they end up on top, it would just as likely be due to volume versus getting the best players like recent classes. JMO

Very true, had a mental lapse in regards to who duke is likely gonna pull.

Could this be the year Cal doesnt get the #1 class?

lyle has spoken with indiana's tom crean and connecticut's kevin ollie since announcing his decommitment. Memphis, arizona, baylor and kansas have also expressed interest.

Lyle, who said he may need until january or february to decide, indicated there is one school he'd have a difficult time turning down.

"it would probably be kansas," lyle said. "i like them a lot, and me and [assistant] coach [jerrance] howard had a relationship at illinois and also when he was at smu."

From reading between the lines it sounds like he's wanting to go to a high level program, sounds a bit like Kansas may be the favorite. He didn't mention Tennessee one time, and sounds as though he's basically opening things completely up.

That's interesting, you'd think he would be more interested in us since it was basically between Tennessee and Louisville.

Well you can't be on a more recent championship-contender team than Louisville. If that was his main argument for a school than that makes no sense.

That may be his main goal just like there is areason for his decommitment. There are other schools that meet the championship criteria.

Its that he wants to be on a championship-contender AND get alot of minutes. That is not an immediate option at Louisville which is why I believe he decommited. I would love to see him in orange but I just don't think that is likely. In the end, I just hope he doesn't go to Florida.
