Alexander, Lyle Package Heating Up (UPDATED) | ZagsBlog.com

Looks like this whole package deal is getting alot of momentum. I would have to pick Kansas now but as much as it pains me to say it Memphis looks to be gaining ground quickly on these 2. If Tiger high lands both Lyle and Alexender they will have a monster class. If Pastner did not deliver a Title then he needs to be fired.

Here's a tweet from from N.D. Kendrick who does tweets around the Illinois program-

"I am Sooo over this 2014 class. Wish these boys the best of luck, but damn I can't wait til they get on campus and are no longer prospects."

This has definitely been one of the weirder classes with Black and Bowers from a Memphis side in which they commited and then commited somewhere else.

Kind of suff I'm talking about. Black........Baylor, tells Memphis he's going to commit, doesn't, takes this off his list and Bowers is a 99% sure commit, commits to FSU.
Crazy or just games?

I feel like these boys want to find the absolute best situation for them. If they are sure that the school they committed to wasn't the school for them, and that it isn't the best school for them to show their talents they'll most likely decommit. In Lyle's case (as stated earlier), he initially was told he was going to get a good amount of PT at Louisville but somehow realized he wasn't going to be the star-starting PG and wanted to decommit. I'm sure the Cliff Alexander thing influenced his decision too.

I mean, they commit first then sign the NLI for a reason. Which is why you can decommit basically whenever you want

As many Memphis fans are quick to remind Tennessee fans, recruiting isn't ever over, even if a kid says he's committing to your school. Austin Nichols told the Tennessee staff he was coming to Tennessee, we all know how that turned out. Until a kid verbally commits, or even signs his LOI, the process is not over.

I have no doubt in my mind that we wouldn't take Mitchell after Austin commited. The Memphis fans on the board didn't even know our roster- that we desperately needed bigs and already had 8 (I counted Reese) at positions 1-3 for 2014. It always funny how opposing fans think they know more than we do.

so does that mean guys like Lyle and Henriquez aren't being considered?

Henriquez clearly isn't.

We reached out to Lyle but he isn't gonna give Tennessee a serious look this go around, he's hell bent on playing with Cliff.

Are you suggesting that that Devin Mitcell and Jaquan Lyle are on the same level?

no not all, the previous poster stated you guy were so undermanned at the 4 and 5 position and UT was only targeting bigs.

...that we would pass on Mitchell, that was his point.

There's obviously certain guys you make room for, regardless of your roster situation, Lyle fits that description.

Dodged a bullet there

I would have loved to have Lyle, but maybe it's for the best. If he's going Juco, that would have really shot us in the leg for next year had he been signed. I'm happy with Austin.

It seems Looney was the only real miss on a big time player in this class and not Lyle.

Yup I agree. We would be in a bad spot if we were banking on Lyle and just now finding out he likely won't make it in.
