When did Quinn do "great" in a 7 on 7? I'm being serious, I'd love to see it.He's a really good receiving TE, but 247 doesn't rate his physicality very high. Blocking needs work as well they say. Quinn is an example of being great in 7 on 7 drills but he needs to be more physical to get on the field.
Anyone remember what he was ranked before being moved to #1 TE in Rivals? Sometimes I wished they had links to past ratings, so you could see progression. Like a link to Rivals 2014 Tight Ends preseason, Rivals 2014 Tight Ends 8/20/13, etc.
As for blocking, this Rivals video said most of his Jr yr, he was split out, so blocking is something he has to prove when put in that position. But, at least they think he has the frame to add the build to be a good blocker. I hear awesome things about his catching and route running.
*Can't understate the importance of running the right routes (as we can attest after a few games earlier this season that have since improved greatly).
Helm just needs to learn to block out of the slot which is where he will be playing most his snaps. It's a lot easier to learn to block a S or LB then a big D-lineman. Wolf will be taking the duties of blocking on the line, and is as equally as important as Helm, as Wolf will play as a TE/FB/o-lineman.
You're saying wolf is going to be our h-back and Helm will split out? Smart idea, but both will have to learn both positions eventually.
Absolutely. I think CBJ knows he's going to need someone who can block as a FB but also play TE. No one on our roster fits that bill right now. I think Wolf will surprise a lot of people. He's that old school TE who's very physical. He'll be used a lot on running plays and goal line plays. I also think he'll be used on punt protection as well. He's a pretty good blocker already, and he's got nice hands.
You know a little more than I do about Wolf, but do you think he's good enough for 3rd down back? For him to do it, he has to be fast enough to make defenses think about the run. He will be a tremendous blocker for our qb against the blitz.

I'm not sure CBJ will ever run a FB, ever. Wolf is a big guy already. I'd say he'll play here at 6'5" 245-250 easy. I'm hoping he turns into a guy like Joseph Fauria from UCLA last year. A big time red zone threat, and a blocking first TE. I've watched a video of Wolf and he talked about how he liked to be physical and play off the line. He's a big need.
Helms is going to a star TE for us. The way Butch uses TE's wouldn't surprise if Helms is high among or holds a few Vol records when it's all said and done.
