Parents definitely want him close enough so they can drive in for the games. UT is the closest option and his family seemed to really like the staff and UT on their visits.

.

We keep hanging our hat on this and it makes no sense to me.

His parents sent him all the way across the country to go to HS because it was what was "best for him"

Why on earth would his college choice have a close to home fell to it???

Makes zero sense. If he is a vol it won't e because we are closer to home IMO

Because they sacrificed being there during his high school days and want to be there for his collegiate days?

No doubt about it. Hubbs and Fort have said distance is a factor for awhile now. His family probably misses him and wants to see him more often and go to his games. This was from Fortenberry recently...

The feeling I get is that Tennessee will be a player, because of distance to home and the chance he could get a lot of snaps on both sides of the ball.

Heck, we'll let him play both sides of the ball and on every special team, if he wants to come to UT.
Gotta have some more speed!

Getting national attention at a high school level is harder at some schools than others. I agree with your statement in principle that it won't be the reason but it becomes at least a small consideration at the college level.

I think it will be us or LSU. Gut feeling is corndog or maybe that's just gas.

You seriously do not see the difference there? It was not like he could go across town to a different high school and get the coaching and exposure for both football and track like he did in California. He went there so he would have the opportunity to go to college wherever he wanted. Now he has that opportunity. Every college on his list will prepare him for a career in football.

Google maps says Knoxville is 485 miles away and a 7:06 hour drive. Baton Rouge is 663 miles away and a 9:31 hour drive.

So the difference is not as much as you'd like, but it is significant. The Baton Rouge trip is close to being a 2 day trip rather than a 1 day drive.

Who knows what this kid will do on signing day? But to say there's not a lot of reasons he could choose the Vols is asinine. He stated he likes the coaches, loves the fans, loves the game day experience, has relationships with a few on the team, and sees a great opportunity for early playing time on both sides of the ball. I realize track is important to him but getting to the Olympics is not exclusive to being coached at FL or SC or any other program for that matter. If you're good enough you're good enough.

Time and time again recruits choose a school where they feel comfortable, and because they have good relationships with players and coaches. It's been established he has both with the Vols. I'm not sure Adoree will pick the Vols but I think we have a great shot. If he does come, distance won't be the deciding factor.

How far is it if he signs with the Salukis?

What's the distance between Les Miles' fingers when he claps?
