'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

I could see CBJ taking 3the RB's this class. If we can land Green then possibly 2 smaller speed backs. I am not sure how Smith and Hill would fit into the new offense.

Y'all can save this and bring it back to me but mark my words, IF Hurd plays running back in college, he won't be successful. I very strongly believe that, for many reasons.

That being said, I want the kid in orange. We can use all the playmakers we can get.

Also there are many reasons that I REALLY want him to be successful. As much as I hear people talk crap about the unbelievable season he just had and so on, I would like nothing more for him to shut them up. I just don't see it transitioning well, and I've seen him play in person multiple times. Great HS back but he's bigger and faster than everyone he plays against.

Well--just check out his carries against SEC teams for reference...How many wide runs did he have where he beat them to the corner? Weren't LBs running him down? I think he is a good kid, but he's extremely small and PIG looks better....

It's just an opinion from the few plays he had...not begging folks to agree...but Q definitely ain't the small, fast guys that Fla has had in the past. That's all I'm trying to say....not dissing on the kid....he may look faster next year after a year of S&C training. :salute:

Nah, I don't think you're slamming him. I just remember seeing him a couple of times and thinking he looked extremely quick and thinking, "Man, if he gets a bit of space...". But you may be right. You, Jay and Nick all make good points and I am just a casual observer with very limited knowledge.

Dumbest post of the year. Yeah let's pass on #1 rb in country that we are tied for lead for on the hope if pulling a kid we aren't in the top 5 for right now. You take both not either or

Not the dumbest post...all the Gruden crap takes that cake!!!! I saying that Green looks like a Michigan guy...UT has pretty good backs now and its sad that Green is the only guy on the radar now..... Previous post came across wrong...I think Green is a lost cause..that is why I said forget about him.......:mf_surrender:

Lost cause? You do realize he personally requested butch jones to come visit him in his living room around 4 days ago, right?

I just hoping CBJ has got the mojo needed to landed this guy! A solid RB like this in Grahams hands could pay HUGE for us in the next couple of years!

GBO! :td::popcorn:

He's borderline too tall now. If he grows anymore, which is likely, he's a WR or even Croom like TE

He'll be a RB before he's a TE. If he can use his hieght well while running the ball then keep him at RB, he's natural there. If not then he'll play receiver and would probably be just as good there.

Forget about green.....wait until 2014 and do ANYTHING possible to get J.H. from Beech HS!!!!

Tell that to C.P. when he carried the ball. JMO

CP is a WR. He runs too upright to carry the ball between the tackles consistently. You don't have to worry about that as much when you're running in space. If he was 5'10 instead of 6'3 he probably would be an RB. Just because CP is a video game when he has the ball in space doesn't make him a great RB.

Remember James "Little Man" Stewart? He was around 6'3". I know because I played against him in football and basketball in high school. IIRC he is second or third in all time rushing yards at Tennessee. At least in top five.

I don't see anything wrong with tall running backs, some of the best were pretty tall. If you can play you can play. You take him as a RB and if he can't do it try something else.

But can we get back to Green since ATM we have just as good a chance to land him as anybody? Green is a powerful North - South runner. Still feel like he goes down too easy. Not enough broken leg tackles if you ask me. But he's always going forward and already has SEC size and speed. We could REALLY use him!

Little man wasnt 6'3 tho.

why on earth would anyone say forget about Green ? yeah lets only pursue one very good RB every couple of years

we have as good a shot as any to get him. for a good deal of time we lead, and probably are out in front for his signature.
