'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

looks like Luper was let go from Auburn, so i think that makes us the front runner. Michigan may still be in it, but i think CJG and DG's relationship is too much to overcome IMO.

Could be used like Lattimore and Johnathan Stewart in the spread attack. Not saying he's on that level, but that's proof of power runners being used effectively in a spread system.

Yep, plus Green himself has been successful in a spread attack in high school.

Auburn's whole staff was let go, down to the S&C guy that had been there 14 years.

Complete house cleaning. Draw your own conclusions.

I was always under the impression that Sunseri's 3-4 was the main draw for Lawson. But I could be wrong.

You guys are gonna kill me but if I had it my way, CBJ would've kept Sunseri on the staff as his LB coach. Obviously he can coach as an assistant as he coached players to a high level at Bama. JMO.

Do they have any other good linebacker or DB commits we can poach?

Cameron Toney is the first name that would come to mind but he was one of the first to affirm his commitment.

Honestly, defensive recruits should be much more solid now with Ellis Johnson than they were with Uncle Rico.

Toney was the first commit Malzahn visited and that was big with Toney.

From AU Rivals - "I feel great. I never wavered anyway. I like the hire and I feel like we're on the way back to a national championship. I'm glad the search is over, it was stressful. But everything is cool with Auburn."

We need to get Green. Hard-nosed, point of attack runner that doesn't shy away from physicality. Partner him with the shiftiness of M.Lane and the speed of R.Neal and we could have a pretty dangerous rotation at RB, especially with CJG coaching them up.

I truly believe if green commits he doesn't see the field next year or has very limited play time. Reason is is Neal and Lane made crazy improvement under grahm, and I think they both will be in beast mode next year. Which is fantastic for green he will get to learn the system get in the weight room and such. That's what we need instead of all this ...Put the freshman in. I think its funny sometimes how everyone is so eager to bench the veterans for the freshman based on high-school stats

If we get Green, he plays next year. Big difference is speed. Same for Kamara if he happens to sign. I know Neak has good speed, but we need to play 2-3 backs every game.
Fresh fast legs are required.

If Neal or Lane don't start to break tackles they'll be passed by a kid like this.

Neal- runs hard inside the 20s close to the goaline. Otherwise he gets what's there or tips running to the outside. He had several chances to rip off huge runs if he had just broken a freakin leg tackle.

Lane- runs when he wants to and puts the ball on the ground too much for me. He also shakes too much. He needs to stick his foot in the ground and run. All that pretty shaking doesn't win games down here. He has very good cutting ability that he uses very well when he just runs without thinking.

Green- will run you over and then will out run your teammates to the endzone
