'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Oange81, most AU boards think he will commit this month after promised visit to Michigan. Michigan put the heat on him this summer during visit but he wasn't buying and most think they have fallen out as serious contender for Greeen. He apparently was not enthusiasic about UGA visit nor enthalled with VT. He was taken with UT visit, thus AU-UT as favorites. He is the big back that AU wants after moving from spread offense. Appears AU slow-played Bryant because Green is No. 1 of its board.

Slow playing Bryant was stupid. Will probably come back to bite Auburn.

Thanks SC.

LSU has always played down to their competition and this year is no different. LSU wins and covers the 3.

I don't know man, they are getting below average play from the quarterback position. They aren't on Alabama's level and I'm not sure they get there.

They are also missing Matthieu's play-making ability on defense and in the return game.

Leoplod Stotch, you may well be right about Bryant. After decommitting from Texas, he appeared ready to commit to AU. AU started getting good vibes from Green after visit and didn't take Bryant. With Wilkins on board, they decided to wait for Green. AU fans will not be happy if we miss on both Green and Bryant. Wilkins appears to be a very good back but not the same level as Green or Bryant.

we heard different. He was really impressed with his auburn visit then he kinda lost interest after mid summer.
imo his final 3 are TN, mich, VT. in that order but if Auburn wins a couple of games around the time he annouces auburn may get a hat on the table but distance is a factor so imo that puts AU out cause TN is closer, bigger fan base, the best facilities in the sec and top 5 in the nation and AU appears to be declining and UT is on the rise.
VT is the closest but i don;t see him going there.they already have some good young backs.

Mich has a stud RB and a few good ones behind him to.
but distance is the major factor here. His visit to mich will deside where he goes imo.

Green will split carries with neal next year then turman or lane the year after that at UT but either Neal will be a solid running back again next year.

OrangeHammer - Nothing scientific about AU-UT alliance. We battle UA and UGA every year for most of our recruits. With exceptions, i.e. GWright, we do not compete across the board with UT for recruits. Secondly we often feel battered sitting between UA and UGA. Many AU fans/grads live in GA or Alabama and they hate the "home' state team. We play them every year just like you do and I can assure that the overwhelming number of AU fans root for TN in those games. AU would love to see TN once again super competitive with UA and beat the crap out of UGA. UA is our most bitter rival and UGA is second. TN is a SEC rival but not "hated" by most AU fans. Hope that helps explain.

Most AU fans like UT because their coach got Bama in trouble, lets be real. Yall think AU was happy when UT was plucking good recruits out of the state of AL years back? If UT starts winning again, AU will hate them as well because they will consider them a threat in the SEC.

After watching LSU-AU game, LSU still has good defense and continues to struggle on offense, particularly at quarterback. AU improved on defense in that game, but needs Frazier and offense needs to step up or it will get worse. UA is still the team to beat in SEC West but does not appear as strong as last year. They have now lost 5 starters/contributors and down to 3 backs, albeit really good ones.

white65, not trying to argue and you may well be right. From many AU sources, he visited AU twice this summer. On last visit around Labor Day, he supposedly was going back to work out with his HS coach about announcing AU in nationally televised game. Coach said no to announcing during game. That is what was reported on several AU sites.

Proximity appears to play some roll but he has shown little interest in UVA which is only 50 or so miles away from Richmond. He has been able to travel to several schools on unofficial visits so I am not sure proximity/resources is too much of an issue.

I'm cheering for Arky this weekend that's for sure. The more losses the less chance AU lands Green or Lawson.

SeanJean, Graham is key reason cited by most AU sites for reason UT is real player for Green. Also, he immensely enjoyed his visit to UT a few weeks ago.

Yeah he was really high on his visit to UT... Said it was the craziest game atmosphere he's ever been to.

The only player that they will miss is Fowler because of his ability to block. Cooper had been getting more PT than White and Hart was the 3rd back. Drake had been more productive. They will put either Calloway or Sims (who was in the rotation last year) as the 4th back. The defense doesnt handle the edges like Hightower and Upshaw did at their LB spots. Thats has been one of the most glaring weaknesses.

Wasn't going to say anything but Bama is giving up the edge like crazy this year.

SN: Big boy Pagan looks good back off the injury.
