'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

We know he is a Miami fan, its been mentioned multiple times already in this thread. The thing is Miami will be crushed with sanctions from the NCAA probably with in the year, so I doubt Corn will still be wanting to go there when its all said and done and if he does, then o well....at least its not Vandy or another SEC team.

I don't really want to derail this thread, but there's something that has really been baffling me. I wonder if anybody knows: will all the kids at Miami (specifically the ones that committed this year) be allowed to immediately transfer without one year penalty after the sanctions come down (provided they're bad enough, which seems probable)? I just can't figure out why else that many recruits (especially the really good ones) would have wanted to go there, unless they know they can immediately leave, therefore mitigating the risk. Even so, it would still seem like a major risk, because who's to say a decent team would be able to take them right away if their roster is already full.

With USCs penalties, only players that were juniors or seniors were allowed to transfer without sitting out because it was a two-year postseason ban. So I think only those players that could have postseason jeopardized by the penalty are eligible. I can't imagine the NCAA let kids who walked into that situation leave without penalty.

for those wishing and hoping for Miami to get demolished by NCAA sanctions, dont get your hopes up.

I have no doubt in my mind that there punishment will be way worse then what USC and kiffin got, what happened at Miami is not excusable

I agree. I think the punishment won't be as bad as I would like it to be simply because many of the violations took part with former student-athletes and very few current student-athletes. No offense to Miami fans, but what that institution allowed to happen was embarrassing and unethical.

We haven't just had a model program either.

Shoot, bring him in for basketball. It keeps him away from other programs using him for football. Obviously, I'd like for him to come here anyway though.

explain what you guys think Miami is going to get hit with...

My God man, they had a booster admit to buying prostitutes for recruits and current players, gave them money, took them to strip clubs, alcohol, cars, parties and entertainment on his yacht, expensive jewelry, BOUNTIES on opposing teams players, and even payed for an abortion when an athlete got a stripper pregnant that he supplied....and at least 7 coaches at the university knew and participated in this!!!! The question is what isnt Miami gonna get hit with?? Anything less then the death penalty is a crime.

 Death Penalty. You will never see that happen ever again.

Baylor had coaching staff try to cover up drug dealing and a MURDER of one of their very own players at the hands of another player. just how bad did they get "hammered" by the NCAA

and how many of yall said , "My God, O$U is gonna get Killed by the NCAA"

I'll hang up and Listen...

Jay, just to ask, do you think they should or shouldn't get hit by sanctions? I personally believe they deserve to get hit, but I don't think they will be.

Nice one. Actually original compared to others so props to you. But the Miami fan info is in an article if you want to check that info out. Eventually yall will see

Vandy fan gets butthurt that a recruit don't wanna go there so he gets his kicks by suggesting the player will go to another school just not UT. Nothing's changed since.... ever.

OSU and Miami are not comparable in both what they did and their stature within the NCAA....USC got hit pretty hard for paying Reggie, and USC is Blue Blood all time great program.....Miami hasnt been relevant in the last 10 years. So I fully expect the NCAA to bring down the hammer of God on UM, the NCAA probably believes it can afford to make an example out of Miami's athletic program. I do agree we will never see the Death Penalty again but IMO anything less is criminal on the part of the NCAA.

IMO Miami and OSU are very similar.

Both Head coaches who were there for the crap are Long gone.

Sweatervest knew of wrong doing even know of the Police involvement and covered it up.

the players who were apart of the issue were punished pretty harshly by the school once the info leaked.

The Kids surely do not seemed to be scared off by the potential sanctions.

I think Ive only seen Kearse actually talk about being concerned

I think with the Miami situation that it will be hard for them to prove that there wasn't a "lack of institutional control" and that there was an ability to "monitor." When those two combine (lack of inst. control and failure to monitor), the big jackhammer comes down. If they're called out on just one of those charges, which seems the minimum probability, then they'll escape relatively unscathed (just a few schollies here and there and maybe a couple seasons bowl ban). The thing that still gets me though (with my original post on the issue) is that these 2012 recruits have no idea as to whether or not the NCAA will come down hard on Miami. They have to know that some action will be taken in the very least. That being said, I still don't quite understand the success of their recruiting class this year, although obviously five million talented D1 football players come from Central and South Florida, which explains the obsession with The U (30 for 30 films not mentioned, which glamorized the university and its swag while "criticizing" it at the same time).

And to add to that, any reasonable person would have to expect at least a two year bowl ban, which would mean that these incoming recruits will not possibly play in a bowl until their junior or RS sophomore years. And the fact that this has happened before at Miami will not help their case. First time offense, maybe they make it out relatively unscathed. Second time, or third time (whatever the heck it is now), probably not.
