'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

This phenomenal athlete led his Ensworth basketball team to the state title this weekend, only a couple of months after leading the football team to its own state title. And he's only a junior!

I have no idea whether he intends to play both sports at the next level, but it is pretty obvious that he has the ability to do so. Does anyone know if Cuonzo or Dooley has a problem with an elite athlete playing two sports? Would it help our chances to recruit him for both sports?

When is the last time Tennessee had a major contributor in both football and basketball? I can't remember a single example.

Isnt Bruce Ellington at USCe doing it this year? I think he was there punt returner and point guard.

This kids rushing, receiving and ko/p return stats makes him look like a Randall Cobb clone. Hope the staff reels him in, can never have to many play makers!!

The only two sport contributor that I can remember at UT was Todd Helton, but he was playing football and baseball, which is quite a different combination than fb and basketball...

Did Asumnu ever get any game action? Doubt it but I remember people raving about him back in 05 or 06 fall practice.

Practice is all I remember. Didn't he play on FG defense (in practice) or am I thinking of someone else.

There are a lot of football guys who run track, especially in the SEC.

Yeah, that's true. However, I think it's somewhat different to be able to play football and also have the athletic ability to run track, than it is to play football and also have the skills to be a successful basketball player. Not saying you don't know, or believe this, just using the track example as a comparison to the ideas for Corn to compete in two sports.

IMO I don't think we pull Elder in this class. Just don't see it or feel it for some reason.

You feelers are obviously numb....this kid is a lean to Tennessee right now.

Hell no. He is a lean to Miami IF anything. He grew up a Canes fan. BUT he is not leaning anywhere right now. He is enjoying the recruiting process and letting schools pitch their pitch

That's the truth. I saw him wearing a Miami flatbill at this party a couple of weeks ago.
