'13 TN QB Charlie High

Great news! Charlie helps the team by just being there regardless of playing time. CBJ is hitting homeruns with his PWO's. Potentially he now has the snapper, holder, and kicker as freshmen who will walk on and work to earn schollies. Really smart moves by all concerned.

This will really really help our scout team for a few years as well. Not often you get a QB of this caliber to run that early on.

And I dont mean that as a knock its very important.

Add High to Worley,Peterman,Ferguson and possibly Dobbs and we are talking about serious strength in depth!

I really hope he puts in the work and it all pays off for him! Go prove the doubters wrong Charlie!

The knocks against Charlie have always been his size and level of competition. Those state title records were set against my highschool alma mater. I personally watched both games and he had an open reciever on every play this past title game. The whole team was good. We basically dominate 3A football in West TN and then get dominated by Alcoa in the title game and now CAK the past two seasons. With that being said, I know that its difficult to consistently put up those kind of numbers without being talented or having talent around you. I think the kid will make a great addition to the team but there has to be a good reason why no D1 school offered him. Did he slip through the cracks? I'll leave it up to the coaches and just remain a fan.

"I want to get a scholarship. That's my dream. That's my goal, and I have a chip on my shoulder to prove people wrong," said High. "Even though I'm 6 feet (tall), I can still get the job done."

"(Tennessee coaches) straight-up told me that if I walked on, they'd give me a true shot at it, and I believed them. I decided to walk on at UT," said High.

"I'm going to do my best (at Tennessee). I'm going to try," said High. "And if it doesn't work out, I can always go down to I-AA. Coach Brown said he'd love to have me, even if I went to UT and decided to transfer. He said he'd be OK with that.

"I didn't want to go to Tennessee Tech and always wonder, 'What if I went to UT? What if I tried that?'"

One of those guys that I will always root for. He's facing some adversity, and it's very honorable to step into the situation at UT and fight for a spot and some respect.

I would not bet against him. I love it that he is coming to UT to fight for a spot. Get em Charlie!

While I really appreciate that someone like Charlie wants to play for the Vols with all their heart, the bottom line is that he just does not have the physical tools to be a major college player, much less an SEC player, at QB. At least we aren't wasting a scholly here. We're not losing anything by having him walk on.

Who knows perhaps he can develop himself enough physically, to be able to play another position. If not he can always play on the scout team.

Same was said of Doug Flutie for his physical tools. But he had heart and smarts. Never judge just on stature you never know:yes:
