'13 KY DE Jason Hatcher (USCw Commit)

I was upset with Ramsey, and I got over it, but this guy just spit in our face.

I'm really hoping we meet them in a bowl.

You really think Dooley is going to out-recruit Kiffin if CLK really wants a guy? Come on now.

I don't know, it's certainly possible with 9+ wins this fall. I just think it's funny how you view Kiffin as this god-like recruiter, that's all. It's all good :peace2:

I think he is the closest thing to a "God-like recruiter."

I think we win 9 games and change some minds, but Hatcher I'm not so sure. It's not like USC is going to struggle this year. They're going to win just as many games as we do, if not more.

We can sell location to mom, but that's about it.

He had the biggest bust in recruiting class history but he's god-like? Hmm ok.

It's all good, I don't want to have this debate, it's been had way too many times. You think he's awesome, I think he's all hot sauce and little substance. Agree to disagree.

Inb4 he had to take chances because TN was down. Nevermind Ambles and Dillon Baxter and a few others are also considered busts.

Fair enough. :hi:

Dooley is no slouch as a recruiter. If he wasn't on the hot seat he would've beat Kiffin for this kid. Stop acting as if Kiffin just takes every recruit he wants he doesn't. I think he's a wonderful recruiter myself but all this Kiffin praise is a bit crazy. He tried to recruit Kendall Fuller and couldn't even get the kid on a visit. Dooley has been recruiting without a real product to sell. When he has one(hopefully this year) we'll see what happens.

I'm not dogging Dooley. I think he's a fine recruiter.

All you have to do is look at our roster. Dooley has made upgrades everywhere. He will continue to do so. Whoever we dont get, just keep it moving on to the next. We will be fine kids.

Dude I'm fine with most of what Dooley recruits. His coaching pisses me off a lot of times.

SN: VH3 just committed to Florida I think Kiffin wanted that kid too.*chuckles*

He's a good evaluator, motivator, game-day coach, among other things. He's also smug, arrogant, brash, and cocky. Don't like him myself, but to label him only as a good recruiter is inaccurate.

Wow, the blind love for Kiffin never ceases to amaze. Kiffin is an average gameday coach, AT BEST. Just look at last season - he's got a roster full of 4 and 5* players, multiple high round NFL draft picks and he damn near dropped a home game to a Minnesota team that went 3-9 last season. His Trojans got SMOKED by a sub-par 6-7 Arizona St. team.

While he was in Knoxville, he lost to a PATHETIC UCLA team. We were all over UCLA, broke their starting QB's JAW, and we LOST. We should have rolled those guys but we couldn't get our offense going (Thanks, Kiffin, for FORCING CROMPTON and his 3 INTS down our throats). Crompton was like the gift that keeps on giving. Kiffin was pimpsmacked by RICK NEUHEISEL. Then a below-average Auburn team comes in with about 3 plays and a suspect defense (ranked 2nd worst in the SEC, 68th in the nation) and Kiffin can't begin to figure out how to call an effective play against them, nor can his pensioner DC figure out how to slow down Onterrio McCaleb or Ben Tate. Later in the season, we get SMOKED by friggin Ole Miss. Ole MISS?!?

And then, he squeaks us into the Chick Fil-A bowl, gets everybody fired up and a ton of fans show up in the Georgia Dome to see us just get absolutely dismantled and embarrassed by yet another ACC team. What a joke. We may not have been able to beat Va. Tech that year but we should have AT THE VERY LEAST been competitive. There was absolutely no preparation for that game, and in fact we heard later that much of the team spent the week just romping around Atlanta hotspots.

Looking back on it, I think Kiffin is actually a below average game day/game week coach, and I just can't understand how anybody could think otherwise.

Agreed. Just shows how naive some 17 year old kids can be.

He also had a very average Tennessee team on the verge if winning in Gainesville and Tuscaloosa. I notice those examples don't fit your argument, so you left them out.

It's not blind love. I just refuse to discount everything he does even moderately well because I'm butt-hurt over him leaving us in the middle of the night. It seems that most of our fans either love him or hate him and I am not willing to paint myself with such a broad stroke. He is a good coach and a great recruiter IMO. He's also a brash prick as a person. We can agree to disagree if you think otherwise. I'll let his teams' play on the field be my example from this point.

I don't care what the score said - we weren't anywhere close to winning the game in Gainesville. We played well against Alabama but they didn't play their best game. We had a great game against UGA and played pretty well against South Carolina. His Tennessee team's play on the field was more bad than good overall, though.

It's true I don't like Kiffin but this has nothing to do with being butt-hurt about him leaving us. I'm actually glad he left us - we're better off in the long run. The fact is, more often than not, I didn't like his coaching while he was here at Tennessee. I was willing to give him some time to get it figured out but to be frank, apart from a few games his coaching just wasn't very good.

Kingston wasn't born when we were a national powerhouse. He probably doesn't remember much of our glory days. I guess Kiffy was the closest thing to success he's seen.

I started watching and understanding UT football in 1994. So I've been spoiled.
