"I have great respect for Clemson but my heart is in Tennessee," Jenkins said. "I loved the visit there this past weekend and I just felt like it's where I need to be. I loved the coaching staff, the atmosphere. I have a great relationship with the staff there and I really like coach Jones."
Jenkins father, Lee was a standout for Tennessee in the early 80's. He's always been fond of Rocky Top and his memories that his father instilled early on are still strong today.
"It means a lot," Jenkins said. "He used to take me to games when I was little. One of my earliest memories, my dad got pics of me sitting on Jamal Lewis lap in the locker room. He used to take me up there on my birthdays as well."
Lee Jenkins has always been a proud parent, but today seemed just a little more special.
"It is a dream come true that one of my sons is going to wear the orange jersey and run through the T," Lee Jenkins said. "I never planned on it because my philosophy was I wanted him to go to the school that fit his needs best. I want a place that fit him from a character, academic and football standpoint. I feel like it was a win-win no matter what he had decided."
