The way that Saban cuts players needs to be investigated.

I really do not see how other coaches are not able to use this against him.

tough to say, "yeah man we want you but if you go to Alabama you won't have an impact so come here to avoid being cut," to a kid.

It's pretty simple: Only the strong survive and they know it - which makes them work their tails off. Plenty of kids never cut it and transfer and the 5th yr seniors that have graduated are encouraged to move on, ha. Also Saban doesnt keep trouble kids because we are lucky to not have to right now. Saban tells them in the recruiting process what to expect so they know what they are getting into.

It's a business decision after the 1 yr guarantee is gone. How is it different than academic scholly? If you dont make the grades you lose the scholly. Same with this - if you don't earn it you don't keep it.

People get so upset but every team does it. We are just blessed to be on a big run for now and are able to do it more. When this run ends we will be back to doing it at the normal rate as others.

Glad to see at least one Bama fan recognizes that there actually is a cycle, and their time on top wont last forever...

Not wanting go too in-depth, I will say this: The reason for SEC conference pride is two fold.

One, because southern people are the most regionally prideful group in the country IMO, and college football is a favorite pastime.

Two, for a long time, the Notre Dames, Michigans, Ohio States... Of the world garnered most of the national attention (media and otherwise) and many in the SEC felt like we were forgotten even though our brand of football was elite.

Now, the BCS format has allowed the SEC a seat at the table, and the national title teams of the SEC have consistently proven their brand is the best. Oddly enough, OSU's consecutive losses to two different SEC teams has played a huge roll in the perception of the SEC, as Ohio State was perceived at the time as king of college football.

spot on.:good!:

That's not really off topic. You just made me miss the last part of lock up where they say what happened to the inmates after the show stopped taping though while reading this.

I didn't know we were recruiting Barry Sanders! Does he still have eligibility left!?

Bama fans are conceding Bell. One even mentioned they don't have room. Well, duh. They are already 8 over before they get even another commit. Yet they will tell u they have 5 spots left. Saban math at its finest.

Back on topic, Bell will be a Vol unless OSU swipes him.

please go to tn. if he goes to osu and urban cryer i will die.

Thanks! I promise this will be my last off-topic post in this thread!

Here's a picture of Vonn Bell in an orange shirt as a peace offering:

Plus, I don't think Tennessee fans will ever get over two of the biggest snubs in Heisman Trophy history by players from the north with bigger TV markets.

In 1956, Johnny Majors got edged out by Notre Dame's Paul Hornung. Except for Hornung, no QB has ever won the Heisman on a team with a losing record. Not only did Notre Dame have a losing record, the Hornung-led Irish only won TWO games that year!

In 1997, arguably the greatest QB to ever play the game (Peyton Manning) was beat out by the one and only primarily defensive player to ever win the Heisman (Charles Woodson). Each week, ESPN would selectively show plays where Peyton threw an INT and avoid showing plays where Woodson was burned for a TD. Without the ESPN campaign, Peyton wins the Heisman. ESPN should be ashamed of themselves.
