'13 GA DE Joe Sanders (UT Committ 11/7/12)

Like the fact that this kid came to camp and earned an offer. I also like the Jackson kid from Miami that camped and impressed.

I'm for taking the Jackson kid, as well. Fortenberry said he picked up a Toledo offer tonight (albeit, not that big of a deal) and that more offers are coming up in the next few days.

I haven't gotten a chance to check this kid out besides a couple of the articles written. I'm going to watch the film O&W posted when I get a moment.

Bonner gives our wrs fits and Gray struggles against Troys wrs. I think Gray ends up a good one tho and hes very coachable.

I watched Bonner struggle a bit versus Georgia State. Both are young players as well as Coleman. This is the dumbest scheme I've ever seen for young undeveloped CBs. Plus they don't have disciplined safeties to play centerfield and help them out.

Guys in this thread calling Teague anything Amazing is funny. He wouldn't be a better slot guy than anyone we line up in the slot now. He blocked well but that was it. Richardson had started to take snaps from Teague before the stupidity took over.

People saying coaching doesn't matter but Saban made a secondary led by Rashard Johnson(former walk-on), Justin Woodall(former MLB baseball player prospect), Marquis Johnson(nothing special), Javier Arenas(blitzing short area nickel back), and Kareem Jackson(coached up overrated Saban CB). These guys weren't freak athletes at all but they played their roles and Saban never asked them to do things they couldn't do. These young guys are more athletic but have a coach that can't scheme period.

I have no comment on this pick-up. It is what it is. These coaches are who they are.

When Bonner gives our guys fits its always 1 on 1. DR and Bonner got along really well and Dr worked with Bonner a lot during the summer.

My problem is this people ragged Gray which is fine if they know what they are looking at. A safety blowing coverages will make a CB look like he's getting burned. I've said all along that Bonner had better skills but Gray had better tools. But in a defense where you expect to have safety help and it's not there then the CB will have big problems all game. No CB outside of Primetime can play Cover 0 all game.

He got beat deep down the sidelines a few times too..I know what you're talking about with Moore in the middle of the field on that one play but nobody knows for sure what the coverage call was.

I think the coaches feel like Gray understands the defense better than Bonner. I say throw Bonner out there and let him take his lumps, really how much worse could it be?

I've said this for weeks on in. The young guys are the best players in the secondary. You've just got to roll with them and build for the future. This defense isn't complicated soooo I don't know what the excuses really are for not playing the kid. We run Cover 1 with a terrible safety being the centerfielder.

A CB getting beat down the sideline happens in the game. Young CBs give up plays and they'll make some too. Bonner gave up plays versus Georgia State doesn't mean a thing. It's called growing pains. Eric Gordon has been getting killed in the slot and has no upside. Which means he should be benched or only play short area zone coverage.

The players have sad multiple times that the defense is super complicated and a lot to grasp. I honestly think it's dumbed down to where it can't possibly be any more simple.

For it to be so complicated it's always been pretty simple to me all year. Sunseri's gameplans are dumb and the way he coaches is dumb too. I never have seen a coach try to overload kids first. You only put more on the kids after they can get alignments and basic things down. Doing something wrong at 100 mph means absolutely nothing to me. Just gets you ran by faster.

The best gameplan he's used was versus NC State which means nothing since they are a bad team IMO.

Is this guy from LA? I haven't heard of him.

Film doesn't look bad, his first step is very slow, he does a good job of attacking until the last second then he gets shy with his tackle.

He looks like he is playing against a Pee-wee team though, there is no size on the other teams. Hard to gauge this one, unless he had gone to one of UT's camps.

I suspect he will eventually bulk up (330 or so) and be a decent 3-4 DL. He's not terribly fast, but strong enough to plug a hole and occupy a couple of linemen. Project perhaps, but he has potential to fill a necessary role on the team.

Young man: Congratulations to you and your family! Welcome to Big Orange Country! We may be a little ill-tempered right now, but we hope for better days ahead and look forward to you destroying a few SEC OLinemen in the next few years.

Are you sure we will be continuing with the 3-4 defense from next year ?
Not bashing you man... just pissed about the defense that we have now

Certainly not sure, but we can only recruit for the defense we expect to run, not the one some other unknown coordinator may want. Besides, he may be better as a 4-3 DL. Who knows?

I say we were doing pretty good compared to this 3-4, when wilcox had his "bend but don't break" defense over here.

I sincerly think that this defense has lead to our downfall this year, and will also lead to Dooley's...

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive end from LaGrange High School said he picked Tennessee over football scholarship offers from South Florida, Western Kentucky, Central Florida, Eastern Kentucky and South Alabama.

He’s ranked as the No. 119 overall prospect in Georgia by 247sports.

I guess this is the replacement for either Toby Johnson or Rod Crayton...SMH!! I hope our luck changes and positive news starts to flow after this BOT meeting today and tomorrow. Our program DESPARATELY needs some positive vibes SOON!!!
