him visiting AU is frightening but i believe he's got UT on his mind. i know nothing about AU's facilities but if they fail in comparison, then they will look even worse after seeing ours. also seems like Stripling made a good impression on him, and he made buds with the film guy. thats like 2 Star Trekkies meeting one another.

If the film guy wins out over the guy with the "church renovation fund" check in this situation, promote said film guy to AD. JMO

I'm pretty sure he is just going to meet the film guy at AU. UT has a better film guy, so CL is VFL.

Edit* LV^ beat me to it.

Jones has a couple of days to convince him not to take that trip. Bell, Miller, Laudy Claudy and ever damn body need to call him and try to get him to go ahead and pull the trigger for UT.

Kid will be a vol. May have been a silent ever since his visit. He'll give aubbie a chance, but it will be too little too late. IMHO

He is definitely not a silent and this will be a fight to the end. skeeter even said as much and Uzzi keeps dropping nuggets but also backtracks on his comments as well leaving it open for anything.

The Lawson family are high character people. I suspect they are honoring a pledge to visit Auburn. He may end up sticking with them but I don't think the visit means we're losing ground with him.

When an undecided 5* recruit visits the Barn on the last weekend before signing day, money changes hands.

For anyone else I would probably agree, but it just seems like Lawson has handled the whole recruiting circus better than anyone else.

All reports seem to show how upstanding he and his family is, so I doubt they would fish for the offer or even take it.

Im sure that you are joking but Lawson and his father know what type of money they are headed for in 3-4 years. Im positive they want no part of any kind of underhanded play to bring negative attention to themselves. This kid is too smart to accept coffee money when big big money is in his not so distant future.

I understand that the personnel needs for the 3-4 are different than the 4-3. That being said, Carl Lawson is the type of talent that could play in either base defense even if he does not have prototypical size for the 3-4 DE position or speed for the Jack position. Additionally, even 3-4 teams don't always line-up in the 3-4. All in all, given the talent level of Lawson, I would have thought UGA would find a way to get him to UGA and then on the field because he is a playmaker and, IF UGA did not offer or pursue Lawson at all, there has to be a reason for it and I think Lawson correlates (rightfully or wrongfully) the snub from UGA to Garner. From what I have read, I think Garner was instrumental in the decision not to pursue Lawson and, thus, I think the change in tenor with his move to Auburn is revealing and I hope and believe that Lawson will as well. I, of course, could be wrong since (1) I am not a UGA fan and (2) I don't have personal knowledge of the personnel and recruiting discussions of the UGA coaching staff. However, it seems that Lawson has made that correlation and that is all that matters.

Uh Lawson looks like he's got plenty of speed. He blew past everyone in one on one drills in the UA all American bowl. His thing is he gets that explosiveness better with his hand on the ground.

Carl isn't announcing anyplace, found that out this morning via text, he's just going to call the school he picks and the other schools he didn't pick so this will be interesting.

One source close to Clemson thinks its Tennessee because of Thigpen and Ryan Jenkins connection but also told me dad might prefer Auburn because he wants Carl to stick to his word.

Source close to Tennessee told me they'd be surprised if kid picked Auburn because the new DL coach Garner did not want or like Carl at UGA but is now being forced to play nice because he's a 5 star committed to the Tigers so source close to Vols feels its Tenn-Clemson battle with Vols edge. Source at Auburn thinks its Auburn or course and last visit will cement things.

Sources inside the school think Clemson.

Long answer to say, I have no idea right now. I spoke to his best buddy Ryan Jenkins and he has no clue, just said Carl will pick what's best for him, that he's recruiting him for Vols and they had good time on visit together but said Carl is very private with this decision and he's not pushing him.

Oh great, even when he announces there will be speculation for days because it was just a phone call to the coaches and nothing public. I can just see all of the rumors now.

:)

Can't the coaches talk about it once they have the signed letter?

I still think this kid is a Vol & has been since his visit. There is nothing at AU that he hasn't already seen. I think he cancels this trip last minute & ends up in Knox with Jenkins (& hopefully Bellamy & others) to help recruit. JMO
