'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

No. Not when neither one is on campus yet. Lawson is worried about his team being good, not who we recruit at his position. We need more than just one impact DE.

I'm not saying it will help with Lawson or all kids, but it definitely helps with alot of kids. Players look at depth charts and people already committed.

Ok well I seen just mom went to Clemson ... So I was hoping dad was coming ... If he does come all three of em ... U take anything from that ? Or maybe dad was just busy last weekend lol

It can help when talking about the same position, less competition for playing time.

Carr would be playing strong side defensive end and Lawson would be playing weak side defensive end. So they don't really play the same position. So actually it would not help us in that respect to lose Carr. Also, good players want to play along side other good players so the other team can't focus all of their effort on shutting them down bc they have to worry about more than just one guy.

He pushed us back for Clemson, and I refuse to believe any player of his caliber and school choices is coming until it happens. Been bridesmaided too many times.
So...apparently he's on his way. With mother and father. Arranging a pecking order would seem to benefit UT at this point considering the head of household comes.

Step 1 seems to be almost complete...getting him and his family on campus.
Step 2: show them this is the best place in the country to play college football and that we will be back very soon.
Step 3: lock him up before he leaves on Sunday!

What was it he said recently about it being just him & his parents at home on nsd? Did he say that's when he's announcing or that's where he'll fax his nli? Just wondering if he'll for sure wait until nsd to announce. I thought at one point he said he'd like to commit somewhere before nsd so he could help recruit others to that school. Would be beyond huge if he decided to shut it down after this visit & help round out this class.

Carr probably end up at DT.

Either way thoug, I can't wait to see Lawson murderin qb's from their blindside.

People making too big of a deal about a player worrying about the depth at his position. Heck if that were true alabama and lsu wouldn't sign anyone. BS, sell the team the program and a legit chance to get on the field that is all most want. If your comfortable in your abilities you welcome competition, if they don't welcome it and want gaurantees it's probably not a good thing anyway. Back to lawson and carr i don't think either one is concerned about that at all.

That's not all recruits want in alot of cases, Nkemdiche wanted Clemson to sign his entire high school team for example. Alot of kids commit to coaches, not the team or the program. Dontre Wilson is a good example right now.

Bama and LSU get recruits because they win and have great coaching staffs (among other things), not because they totally dismiss the depth chart. There are plenty of kids that hold Bama and LSU offers but commit to other schools because they see an earlier opportunity for PT.

The point i'm trying to make is that kids look at depth charts and current commits (some more than others). Taking elite players at the same position can get some kids to look around. Players want to play with other good players, but not all of them want another guy pushing for their job.

FTR, this isn't the case with Lawson and Carr. If Lawson commits, I doubt it will have any effect on Carr.
