'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

It's all semantics. The definition of "Pro-Style" has changed and evolved. Pro-style, as WE know it, is 2 backs and a TE. Pro-stlye to kids TODAY is the Packers, Saints, Patriots, etc. The Full-back is a dying breed. The TE position has evolved into a different animal as well....see Gronk, J Graham, J Cook, etc. More snaps than ever in the pro game are coming from shotgun. Coach Jones' offense is more of the NEW pro-style offense...spread 'em out and take advantage of mis-matches.

This simply isn't true. Those teams you named don't run pro style offenses. Just because they are in the NFL doesn't make their system pro style. Just because June Jones ran the run and shoot in the NFL didn't make it a pro style. Chicago, Minnesota, and SF are examples of teams who still run a pro style. And in their offenses the FB and TEs are very relevant. I do understand what you are saying, the NFL is spreading it out more than ever. But that doesn't make those schemes pro style.

UF, SCAR, and LSU can tell you. Name how many teams are better than them. I'm interested to hear this myself.

Once again I never said the SEC wasn't the best conference, I said that they aren't as dominate as times passed. You are too much in denial to admit it. When you let Vandy win 9 games as an SEC team, I would say it isnt as strong as the past 6 years.

Only because they were ranked high in the preseason. You can't tell me with a straight face that UF, USCjr, and LSU are top 10 teams.

Straight Face... LOL

Glad that we are basing the dominance of the SEC on bowl games that mean nothing.

Uhm no offense but if the man running the offense says its not then a pretty good chance it isnt. Just saying he's the coach and your a messageboard poster. Think I will believe him.

I like how you start your post with "no offense" then act like a total jackwad. Let me know how i can elevate my status from "messageboard poster", I'm trying to get on your level. Oh wait....YOU'RE JUST A MESSAGEBOARD POSTER YOURSELF!!!! Think what you wanna think, believe what you wanna believe. I didn't slam the coach, I even said I think he's gonna do good. But he runs a spread, I don't care what he tries to call it. If you think it's pro style because he says so, that's your problem. But I'm sure you lived by the code of if Kiffin said it or Dooley said it, it was true as well. Perhaps he's 100% convinced in his heart that it is pro style. But that doesn't
mean it is. Especially considering the guys he coached for (Brian Kelly and Rich Rod) ran spreads. When's the last time you saw a 4-5 wide no huddle pro style offense? I'd venture to say NEVER.

Sorry to get off topic....back to Lawson.

Northweastern beat an overrated MSU team who had not beaten anyone of significance all year long. LSU had that game in the bag but did what typical LSU does...choke. The only game that was truly dominated was Louisville (with 2 L's) against UF, but you can't say you didn't expect it with how UF's offense can suddenly be non existent in some games.

Bowl games are meaningless. Once top tier SEC teams miss the conference championship they become disinterested fast while everyone else plays their hearts out because they want to beat an SEC team so bad. Louisville lost to Syracuse by 20 and also lost to Connecticut in games that actually mattered. Had Florida played them during the regular season they win 9-10 times. Not to take anything away from Bridgewater though that dude is bad ass.

Based on what? Serious question.

And believe it or not.. but the truth is Vandy was pretty good this year. So argument can be made that you are the one in denial. Not slamming you at all either.

Vandy didn't beat any of the teams I named.

Also the word is dominant not dominate.(I'm not the word police but you've used it in about 4 posts now. Lol)

Now back to Lawson, I'll be glad to watch him play for us Go Vols!!!!

Any chance Vanderbilt's 9 wins this year might have been a result of ongoing improvement on their part or is it simply a result of the rest of the SEC declining?

Or one could argue that Vandy having 9 wins is exactly what makes the conference so tough. Can't take a week off for the Vandy's, Miss States, or Ole Misses of the world.

I would expect Vandy to get better the longer Franklin is there. I hate the guy, but he is a hell of a coach. I would like to see how we look VS Vandy with CBJ here. Our talent is alot better. Coaching makes a huge difference.

i was wrong, it's not a thread about carl lawson. it's about some peckerwad troll trying to convince the entire vn community that the sec is lame. so much for getting current information about recruits

It's too bad there aren't 2 entire forums on this site that would be better suited to discussing SEC dominance.

Somebody should get Freak on that, STAT.
