TN became the Volunteer state when Andrew Jackson asked for volunteers to march to New Orleans during the war of 1812. During that time Jackson got the nick name Old Hickory.Thats why theres an Old Hickory TN.iirc

Also to the Mexican War. About which I like to remind our TX friends. That's really where our state gained recognition for Volunteering in wars that didn't even directly affect us.

i don't know to much about the alamo story but i've heard there were a bunch of Tennesseans there.

And also auburn is losing 10-0 but they did just recover a muffed punt as i was typing this.

Any team that can put up points can beat them, so I would say Ole Miss certainly can. There defense could easily shutout Vandy though and only need there offense to score a touchdown to win it, it will be an ugly one though.

Alabama State and NM State may be our only other victories and I am not betting on those two.

True, of course this year you guys are a team that I would not bet on or against. As inept as you guys looked today, your defense does have enough talent to at least keep you in any game.

Things are about to get ugly on the Plains over the coming weeks.

One has to think there's a good shot to flip Lawson.

Mostly agree but the offense needs to give the defense a ltttle relief. We may as well throw our other freshmen and sophmores in for the experience. This season is lost.

Appreciate that very much. I said on another thread that I don't know where we will stand now with current recruiting class. It'll be a couple of days before our boards and insiders/mods stop punching it out and recruiting outlook gets clarified. It is like an old western movie scene over there right now with good bar room brawl. Both sunshine pumpers and doom and gloomers are in meltdown and approaching freefall.:salute:

AU could drop every game but beat UA in the Iron Bowl and CGC will get an extension and AU will hold on to every recruit.
